Instructions

  1. Once your notebook has those two packages on it, you should unzip their content and then power the handset off. If you don’t do that, the device will not enter Download Mode smoothly.
  2. Speaking of which, do as follows to boot the phone into it: press and hold, together, Volume Down and Power, then press only Volume Up when Android’s official logo appears on the display.
  3. Run Odin tool v3.07.exe from the Odin .zip package as Admin and after that plug the phone to the laptop. After a couple of seconds you should experience a COM port number colored yellow and “Added!!” in the form of a message; should you not witness those things, then you’d better flash the USB drivers again or use a USB port which differs from the one used before.
  4. Now go on by completing these steps: look for a “PDA” key, tap it, choose CF-Auto-Root .tar.md5 file (which is in the Rooting package you had to extract) and then stay in Odin.
  5. There, do as follows: choose F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot boxes that will be displayed on the screen. From now on, you need to install the rooting firmware by first tapping “Start” and then waiting for the process to end. The procedure having finished, you will see your handset start to restart.
  6. [sc name=”banner-jos”]The touchscreen of your Galaxy S4 I9505 should also show you a message in green saying “PASS“. When both of these happen, you have to disconnect the devices from one another.

The phone you own is now rooted on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXUBMG4 stock firmware. Before you celebrate this, you should find Root Checker in Google Store and download it on your Galaxy S4 I9505.

This is the tool which will tell you if the device is rooted in the first place. If it is, then by all means take advantage of this by using those root-only apps, custom ROMs and so on we specified in the beginning of this guide.
