How to backup your Android device
In all of the How to articles we wrote so far, one of the requirements you had to take into account when flashing a custom ROM was to make a backup of your handset’s essential data. Without these data, your smartphone or tablet would no longer be able to show you contacts, email addresses and so on.
If you want to know what steps to take in order to create a local data save of an Android handset, keep reading.
Important apps
If your smartphone running Android does not come with access to the root, you can use either a Manual drag and drop or a tool called MyBackup Pro. In the case of the former option, all the user has to do is to connect the device to a laptop and to access the memory card of the Android device; once you are done with that, select the internal data and copy all into a folder located on the PC or laptop you’re using. This method is of great help if you wish to save things like songs, pics and so on on your smartphone’s card.
The other solution, the MyBackup Pro, is available on Google Play Store. It doesn’t come free of charge, but there is one version you can try for free for 1 month. If you don’t have a rooted device, no worries: this solution is good for them, too. Download it and open it. Once you’re finished with this step, click on the option called Backup, which comes with 2 options of its own: save data or the apps.
Important instructions
You can save the data to the internal memory card or an online location, in a cloud. Should you want to backup applications, you can choose either all of the apps on the phone or only some of them. Then, once you’ve made up your mind to restore data, select the option known as Restore and you’re done.
Now, if you own a handset which comes with access to the root, you can opt between Titanium and NANDroid backup. Like the MyBackup Pro, the Titanium can be found on Google Play Store. This is one of the best solutions you can employ to backup your Android smartphone, because make possible the access to the system.

The second method
The Online NANDRoid Backup option is also very useful, because it offers the possibility to perform a data save without restarting the handset of your choice to Recovery Mode. The one thing you must do before creating a NANDroid backup is this:
- Copy all of the NANDroid backup file to a laptop;
- Then copy the files from the NANDroid onto the internal memory card of the device.
- After this step, choose the Recovery Mode option.
- The final step: choose Backup&Restore, then Restore. This option will recover the previously copied NANDroid files from the laptop.
