Install Jelly Bean 4.1.2 DXLS8 Official Firmware on Galaxy S2 I9100G
Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G is a smartphone for which we have official firmware that will update it to Android 4.1.2. By keeping an eye on this guide, you are going to be shown how to do that. The number one thing to consider: some pre-requisites.
Requirements
Which are these: use a notebook/PC which includes Windows among its specs (if it should come with Mac or Linux, use CrossOver Utility), use the S2 I9100G which is carrier and bootloader unlocked, flash USB drivers for the smartphone on your laptop, turn on USB debugging, charge the phone’s battery and create a backup via our instructions. Having the data on the internal memory backed up to an external SD card is also a good idea.
Instructions
Let’s move on with the tasks required for this update.
- The very first one tells you to download the following zip files on your notebook: and Odin tool v3.07. After you unzip each of them, you will be left with .tar.md5 and Odin3 v3.07.exe among many other different files.
- Check them out, then power the handset off; get ready to boot it into Download Mode by pressing and simultaneously holding Volume Up, Home and Power. After that you will have to run the Odin 3.07.exe as an Admin by right-clicking on odin.exe file and then on “Run as administrator” from the context menu of your Galaxy S2 I9100G.
- Next: plug the smartphone to your notebook. Here is what will tell you that this process went well: a message saying “Added!!” and a COM port number in yellow. If that’s not the case, then mend the problem by either using a different USB port or flashing, again, the USB Drivers.
- Once everything is in order, you need to choose certain files. Here is how to do that:
– click on PDA and make sure to choose a file containing CODE;
– click on Phone and then opt for a file which has MODEM in its name;
– after you click on Phone, you need to choose a file that has CSC inside it;
– click on PIT and afterwards select a file with a .pit extension. - The time is now to do as follows: opt for F. Reset Time, Auto Reboot and Re-partition. The latter of these three options needs to be chosen only if you opted for the .pit file.
- Coming up next are the following instructions: tap on START, then wait for the installation of the DXLS8 to commence on your smartphone. After that is over, the Galaxy S2 I9100G is going to enter a rebooting phase, so wait for it to end; a message that reads PASS will then appear on the display of your handset (along with a green background).
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]Once you see that, you should disconnect the devices from one another and pay a trip to your handset’s “About phone”, where you will see the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean build DXLS8.
NOTE: How about we end this tutorial with a tutorial on how to get the I9100G unstuck from boot animation:
- go to the Recovery Mode first;
- once there, operate Factory Reset/Wipe Data;
- continue by performing Wipe Cache Partition;
- end by opting for the system restarting option.
And that will get your smartphone back in shape once again.
