The novelties

The moment you update a gadget and it has root access, you’ll have a couple of problems to deal with. The already mentioned root access will, for instance, be revoked. Your device will lose its system partition, as well. The gadget’s internal and external SD cards won’t receive damage; neither will the tablet’s important files and other content.

The goodies that land on an updated device are all extremely useful. They contain the following: better CPU speed and root-only apps. The battery’s life will also be improved making your tablet perform more. Then you’ll have several customization tweaks to use. Your tablet will have new features at its disposal and the performance as a whole will have plenty to benefit from. All in all, the gadget you update will have no security issues to go through. And no bloatware.

Prerequisites

The immediate thing to do is follow these requirements:

  • the laptop should run Windows for this upgrade;
  • disable the security software installed on the Samsung SM-T531;
  • the notebook’s security software must be disabled next;
  • create a bunch of regular backups for the tablet’s data;
  • create, with these tips, a full NANDroid backup;
  • fully charge your tablet;
  • install USB drivers on the notebook from this page;
  • turn on USB Debugging on your tablet.

Step by step instructions

  1. The step which must be performed in the beginning of our guide needs you to download the (file name: T531XXU1ANE1_T531UWA1ANE1_CTI.zip). Be sure this package ends up on your notebook. After it does, download Odin v3.09 on it from this page, too, and extract it afterwards.
  2. Then unzip the other package, as well. Use one of these for the unzipping: 7Zip or WinRar. If you are left with several files, you’ll need to look for the one with this name: Odin3 v3.09.exe. You must have it launched on your laptop now.
  3. Now do this: enter the tablet in Download Mode. The tablet should enter this mode like this: press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down together and a boot message is going to be revealed. When you spot it, press Volume Up. You’ll then be done with this step.
  4. If you are, move on to the next step. Which has you do the following: enter your tablet and the laptop in a connection with the tablet’s USB cord. When this cable is used, the Odin is going to leave on a search for your gadget.
  5. Once the tablet’s found, a blue sign will pop up. This means that the devices will have been plugged to each other. So go ahead and add the firmware file to AP / PDA. Auto Reboot and then F. Reset Time have to be activated.
  6. Once Re-partition is unchecked, you can tap “Start“. Your tablet will need to see the new firmware installed on it. Tapping this option will begin the process.
  7. Wait for the procedure to end. “Pass“ should come up on the screen next. Which means that the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (3G) SM-T531 will reboot soon enough.
  8. After it does, both your tablet and then notebook have to be disconnected. This means that the USB cable must be removed.
