Upgrade Galaxy Nexus I9250 to Cataclysm Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Custom ROM

We are here today to provide you with an easy tutorial on how to best update Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. We tried out some custom ROMs for this operation and settled with one called Cataclysm because it was the best.

From out of the various features we saw with other tools, this one comes with the most varied and important ones. Here is only a small part of them: Quick Toggle that can be customized, full screen caller, speaker volume boost, 3G Only network mode and many more.

Requirements

Here is what you need to do in exchange for our help on how to update your phone: follow the requirements we will aim at you shortly. Remember that these pre-requisites are extremely important. So here they are:

  • root the smartphone (which means that you should get either CWM Recovery or TWRP for it);
  • download on your laptop;

  • turn on USB debugging on the handset;

Important instructions

You’re now cleared of what you must do before you follow the steps below.

  1. Start our guide with step one. Its actions should be the following: plug, with the USB cord of the Nexus I9250, the device to your laptop. Afterwards you have to find the Android 4.2.2 ROM zip file.
  2. Step 2 is the one that comes next; you should, for it, cut that file and move it to the SD card root of the phone. After you’ve performed this operation, you need to power the handset off.
  3. Step three is you unplugging the tow devices from one another and entering the Samsung model into Bootloader Mode. Not sure how? Here you go: turn the Galaxy I9250 on while making sure that you simultaneously press + hold Volume Down, Volume Up and Power.
  4. In step four you will be told the following: when you see some prompts on the phone’s display, you should follow them, then opt for Bootloader when you spot it.
  5. In step five you have to go to Recovery, then opt for Factory Reset/Wipe Data with the help of Power. Now choose Wipe Cache Partition.
  6. When you’re back in the phone’s main recovery screen, you should opt for Install zip from SD card.
  7. The seventh step is upon us; it goes like this: select Choose zip from SD card, then opt for the Android 4.2.2 ROM zip file with Power. Initiate the installation process, then wait for the flashing to reach its peak. Now go to +++++Go Back+++++.
  8. Reboot the Galaxy Nexus I9250; opt for the system restarting to get it in that state. Have patience and after a very short while your smartphone will be updated to the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
