Update Motorola Droid Bionic XT875 to Official Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Firmware
Motorola Droid Bionic XT875 is minutes away from landing Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on it via official firmware. This guide plans on telling you how you can get the update by yourselves.
The steps are, hopefully, easy to follow, even if you are no professional. The steps and the pre-requisites below are the only two things you must pay very close attention to in order to flash the update free of problems.
Requirements
Are you curious what you can expect from the update? For starters: better keyboard (which features, among others, vocal typing capabilities and smart prediction technology), improved performance and many more. Follow the steps that come after the requirements below and you will see what we mean.
Throw an eye over at these pre-requisites first: root the handset and get either TWRP or CWM Recovery installed on the device, use the Motorola Droid Bionic whose Android 4.0 firmware comes with system version 6.7.246, make a backup using this guide, see if the ROM is from the official producer and not changed in any way whatsoever, download firmware, charge the battery of the smartphone, turn on USB debugging on the Droid Bionic and install, on your laptop, the USB Drivers that were made with this model in mind.
Important instructions
The official steps that you must use to update your phone to the desired operating system are shown below.
- For the first of them you need to perform these couple of tasks: plug, after you downloaded the Official Jelly Bean 4.1.2 firmware (the archive is labelled Blur_Version.6.7.246.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip) on your comp, the Droid Bionic XT875 to the latter. Now copy the said file from the laptop to a new place, which must be the SD card root of the phone, then unplug the devices from each other.
- For the second step you have to switch the handset off and then press + hold Volume Down and Volume Up while powering the Droid Bionic on again. After you are done with the above, you should see a start menu on the display; it’s time to find Recovery Mode now. Press Power to opt for it after you’ve located it.
- For step three, our tutorial recommends the following operations: choose install/apply update from external sdcard/storage.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]Step four will ask that you do this: opt for the the official firmware file with Power; after you do that, make sure to wait for the update process to begin. It will end once a few minutes have passed since its start.
After those couple of minutes have gone away, you will see that the Droid Bionic is going to restart on its own; if it does that a couple of times, not to worry, everything is just fine. Have patience about ten minutes; the update will end afterwards.
Now that you have the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean flashed on your Motorola Droid Bionic XT875 via official firmware, you should be able to experience the features we touched upon in the introduction of our guide. The effects they will have on your handset will show you that you made a good decision when you followed our tutorial.
