Update HTC One X to Jelly Bean 4.3 CyanogenMod 10.2 Custom ROM
To be able to have your HTC One X act in a different way, an update is all you need. Android 4.3 CM10.2 is the firmware which you should install your phone with if you want that novelty. However, the CyanogenMod 10.2 may surprise you with some issues.
Animation screen may flicker, graphics may experience problems, you may experience a black display when you call someone, A2DP Bluetooth can experience problems and so on. Also, as you get closer to the end of this tutorial, you may stumble across bugs, a boot loop, the device can refuse to boot and other issues. The solution to all these issues: flash custom ROMs or stock firmware again.
Requirements
If you stick close to the steps we have in this guide, your phone will receive the update without any major trouble. Before we indicate what steps to follow, you need to take a look at the following pre-requisites:
- root the device via this tutorial;
- install a custom recovery image on the HTC One X;
- your handset has to be bootloader and factory unlocked;
- you need to enable an option that is named USB Debugging;
- install USB drivers for your smartphone on your notebook;
- charge the battery of the phone;
- configure, on the laptop, Fastboot and ADB;
- make backups via this guide.
How to flash CM10.2 on HTC One X
- This guide can now commence. Here is the first guideline: download the (file name: cm-10.2-20130807-UNOFFICIAL-endeavoru.zip) and Google Apps archive on the PC, via this link. Unzip them next and plug the phone to the laptop.
- The packages need to be transferred to the phone’s SD card root from where they are right now, so make that transfer and then move boot.img file to a folder called android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools.
- Switch the HTC One X off. Enter this smartphone into Bootloader Mode by powering it on while simultaneously pressing + holding Volume Down and Power. Then go to the android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools folder.
- Launch Command Line and enter this command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
After you press “Enter”, you need to enter a second command:
fastboot reboot
Tap “Enter” again. Some guidelines will pop up on the display, so opt for “Bootloader”. - Go to “Recovery” and opt for a full data wipe of the phone. Which is done by choosing some options as shown underneath:
– Factory Reset/Wipe Data;
– Wipe Cache Partition;
– Wipe Dalvik Cache. - Return to the main Recovery screen of the HTC One X. There, opt for Install zip from SD card. Then be sure to opt for this: Choose zip from SD card.
