Update Galaxy Note 8.0 WiFi GT-N5120 to Android 4.1.2 ZHBMJ1 Official Firmware

This tutorial is addressed to all of you who live in Hong Kong and own Galaxy Note 8.0 WiFi N5120 as your tablet. Last month was the launch of ZHBMJ1, the official firmware that will update your gadget to this OS: Android 4.1.2.

After the Galaxy Note GT-N5120 was released in April 2013, many of its owners have wanted to upgrade it to the OS we mentioned. And then the new Jelly Bean official firmware with its KIES logo activated appeared to make the update possible.

And along with it comes a multitude of new features that will improve the performance of your gadget: touch anticipation, Google Now, mini apps, triple buffering, a new keyboard, widget size automatic adjustment, all share, a fixed frame rate of 60 fps, extended vsync timing, group cast, free style widget, pop up play and connect and sync email updates.

To install the new firmware on your tablet, you must make sure it runs a custom ROM. If it’s rooted, your gadget will, after the update, lose its root access because of the new firmware.

Apart from a revoke of root access, you should also expect a deleted system partition. In case you have important data on your tablet, don’t fret: it won’t disappear after you apply the upgrade; the internal and external SD cards on your N5120 won’t be erased.

Use only our tutorial or OTA (with the Software Update button located under Settings menu). You can use Samsung’s KIES to update your tablet as well. If the tablet model is not the one we indicated, use a different guide; if you use ours, your gadget will end up bricked.

But in case the connection doesn’t happen, you need to use another USB port or flash the USB drivers a second time until you get it right.
  4. Next up: click on PDA, opt for a file with CODE in its name, tap Phone, choose a file that has MODEM in the name, tap CSC, opt for a file sporting CSC in its name, click on PIT and select a file with a .pit extension.

  7. After you spot all of this, you should disconnect the tablet from your notebook. To start having fun with the new stock firmware, our advice is this: on your tablet, make sure to go to Settings and then tap About Tablet from there. What you are looking for should be there. If it isn’t, repeat the guide.

If the Android 4.1.2 ZHBMJ1 doesn’t leave a strong impression on you, you’d better go and restore your Galaxy Note 8.0 N5120 to the old ROM by revoking the update with the NANDroid backup.
