There are also risks where an update is concerned. The ones your tablet will encounter are related to root access. If your device is rooted, the upgrade shall revoke its root access. More than that, the new firmware will erase the tablet’s system partition. If you have a lot of important data stored on your device, don’t worry; the update won’t delete it. The procedure will also not damage the gadget’s internal / external SD cards or other important elements.
You have the possibility to upgrade your tablet via Samsung’s KIES. This software can be used thanks to the activated KIES logo of the new firmware. It’s best, however, to use this method on a device with stock ROM on-board.
Prerequisites

- go to this page then install, from there, USB drivers for the tablet on the notebook;
- then turn off the tablet’s security programs;
- after that disable the security programs on your notebook;
- keep the data on your tablet safe against security problems by creating a backup;
- Windows should be the only OS version installed on your notebook;
- create a full NANDroid backup as shown in these steps;
- your tablet’s USB Debugging should be turned on;
- the tablet must have a fully charged battery.
Step by step instructions
Up next are the steps that land the Android 4.4.2 XXUDNG1 firmware on your Samsung GT-N8010.
- First of all, you will have to take care of this step: download Odin v3.09 from this dedicated page and the Android 4.4.2 KitKat XXUDNG1 official firmware for , or on the notebook.
- Then you will be asked to move on by unzipping each of the two packages. We recommend using either WinRar or 7Zip here. Look, among the files that have just been extracted, for this one: Odin v3.09.exe. Have it launched on the notebook.
- This step recommends you to start your tablet in Download Mode. In order to complete this action, we suggest pressing and simultaneously holding Home, Power and Volume Down. You’ll see a boot message in a couple of minutes; press Volume Up.
- Once done, be sure to have a connection established between the Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8010 and notebook with the tablet’s USB cord. After using that cord, Odin will start locating the gadget. If it finds it, you’ll see a blue sign.
- If it doesn’t, you can redo the steps. After the plugging is successful, you will need to add the firmware file to AP / PDA.
- When the adding’s also over, activate this box first: F. Reset Time. A second box you should turn on is this: Auto Reboot. Re-partition must be unchecked.
- To continue, tap “Start“. The new and official firmware will begin a flashing phase. This should take 10-15 minutes.

- You have to click on Settings and then on About Tablet. The new firmware will open itself, so make sure you take full advantage of your updated device.
