Samsung Ativ S with Windows RT available for pre-order

Samsung has news for us. Their Ativ S sporting Windows RT can now be pre-ordered.

Since the South Korean manufacturer finished work on the Ativ S and pre-installed it with Windows RT as its operating system, they took the decision to make it available for a pre-order. Which was about time, since rivals such as Nokia, HTC and other important names have just announced their latest creations along with their price tag.

Since it’s all been already rumored, the Ativ S costs €549 (which is equivalent to $710). However, it’s nothing official yet. But as things stand right now, this rumored price sends the device in the middle category. And this price is for the SIM free model.

The weight of this smartphone is 135 g. Its body has the following measurements: 137.2mm x 70.5mm x 8.7 mm.

The list of specs that the Samsung Ativ S sports is pretty generous. It includes the following: a 4.8″ Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, a resolution made of a grand total of 720 x 1280 pixels, 16 million colors, a pixel density of 306 ppi, 1GB of RAM for memory purposes, a dual-core Krait 1.5 GHz processor, the Windows Phone 8 operating system, a card slot compatible with microSD that can offer a total of 32GB, a 1.9-megapixel cam on the front, a second camera of 8MP on the back, a Chipset being Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 and an Adreno 225 graphics processor.

The camera on the front of this smartphone and the one on the back are both good. The latter offers 3264 x 2448 pixels. It also has features such as image stabilization, LED flash, autofocus and many more. The display is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass that helps it avoid getting damaged when the phone is dropped. There is multitouch functionality, too.

Features that can be discovered on the Samsung Ativ S are many and each has its own appeal. You get things like a Voice memo, an HTML5 Browser, SNS integration, a Document viewer/editor, a stereo FM radio with RDS, GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS, a standard Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery, support for the MP4/WMV/H.264/H.263 and MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ players, Predictive text input and an Organizer.
Then we have a lot of connectivity options. Here they are: Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP connectivity, USB as microUSB v2.0 connector, GPRS, NFC support, HSUPA, EDGE, Speed of HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 7.2 Mbps, 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi hotspot and DLNA.
The Samsung Ativ S with Windows RT is a new smartphone. It sounds good and we can’t wait to test it.
