Install Jelly Bean 4.3 Carbon Custom ROM on HTC Droid DNA
HTC Droid DNA is going to have its OS changed to Android 4.3 with an update to Carbon custom ROM firmware. Stay tuned for details on how to experience this upgrade.
The Carbon custom ROM encompasses features that can be found in other tools such as the popular SlimBean, AOSP, CyabogenMod version 2, ParanoidAndroid and AOKP. Which is why you can be sure of its quality.
After your smartphone has this firmware among the other tools it comes with, you will be offered goodies such as the following: an upgraded battery (that will help your device go on for many more hours), many new features, a much better Android experience, new applications and so on.
Requirements
Does any of the above sound enticing? If you think so, then go ahead and follow our update tutorial. But before you do that, you must first read the following list of requirements:
- own a rooted HTC Droid DNA;
- after you root it, you should find a custom recovery image and get it on your phone;
- charge the battery of the handset;
- go to your laptop (or comp) and your smartphone where you have to turn off the programs which offer security in case of virus attacks;
- create a backup using this tutorial;
- install USB drivers meant for the phone on your notebook or PC;
- turn on USB Debugging on the Droid DNA by launching Settings, opting for Applications, choosing Development and then enabling the necessary option we mentioned.
If you root your handset, its warranty is going to be left out. You can do one of the following in case you want to have it back: get an official upgrade of the Android operating system or downgrade the phone to stock Android.
Instructions
You are now done with the process that involves the pre-requisites. You should, from now on, prepare to follow the steps needed for a correct update procedure.
- Here is how the tutorial should begin: download and then save on your notebook. Then move on by plugging the handset to the laptop without extracting the files of the update package.
- Now wait for a connection to be established between the two devices. After that’s done, you need to select the new firmware, then transfer this file from the laptop to the SD card root of the handset.
- At the end of the transfer, the phone and the notebook shouldn’t be connected anymore. After you’ve taken the USB cord away, you can switch the HTC Droid DNA off and boot the device into Recovery Mode. Two options should now be chosen so that the system of the phone has its data erased: Factory Reset/Wipe Data, Wipe Cache Partition and then Wipe Dalvik Cache after you are in the phone’s Advance setting.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]Go back to the handset’s Recovery Menu and opt for the following: Install zip from SD card and Choose zip from SD card, respectively.
- Then install the update tool by choosing it and waiting, afterwards, for the flashing to end. Now opt for Go back. Restart the Droid DNA next and you are done: the phone is updated to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Carbon custom firmware.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: A boot loop may be experienced by your handset. In that case, we urge you to take care of the matter by doing as follows: go to the Recovery, choose Factory Reset/Wipe Data together with Wipe Cache Partition and your phone will get over the problem.
