Install Android 4.2.2 XXUAMK9 on Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 WiFi GT-P5200

Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 GT-P5200 was officially launched this year and it can be updated to Android 4.2.2 thanks to new firmware launched this month for South Africa and Saudi Arabia.

What you’ll get by following our guide is Jelly Bean 4.2.2, as mentioned, with official firmware called XXUAMK9. The fact that this new tool is official means that you’ll enjoy the latest Android version with all of its new and varied features. They include improved battery that will last more than usual, the possibility to customize your tablet with tweaks, new apps, stability, better speeds and much more.

The firmware we will teach you how to install on your tablet has an activated KIES, so you can’t use KIES software for the upgrade. But you can use OTA if you don’t wish to follow our guide. The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 WiFi P5200 is all yours to update, but only if it has a custom ROM among its specialties. So check that out, then also check the model of your tablet: if it isn’t the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 GT-P5200, refrain from updating it with our guide and use another one, because if you follow this one you will brick your gadget.

After you have the new firmware all installed on your tablet, and the device is rooted, you will be faced with a revoking of the root access. Not only that, but the gadget’s system partition is going to be deleted. The internal / external SD cards, though, will come out alive, as will the data on your gadget, which won’t be erased.

Requirements

We now have some very important pre-requisites on the menu. You will find them below, so here you go:

  • open your PC or notebook and then the tablet to turn off the devices’ security software;
  • then make a backup for the data on your gadget (you should also create a NANDroid backup, via these tips);
  • be sure to look at the battery of your tablet and see if it requires a full charge;
  • turn USB Debugging on;
  • the laptop you use must ship with Windows;
  • keep your tablet’s USB cable close to you;

Instructions

  1. The following instructions make the beginning of our tutorial, so here they are: download Odin from this location and the Android 4.2.2 XXUAMK9 (the Saudi Arabia version is available and the South Africa version is available ) on your laptop and then extract the two.
  2. After the files inside the packages finds a place on your device’s desktop, you need to boot your tablet into Download Mode like this: press and hold Volume Down and Power at the exact same time, then be sure to press Volume Up once the logo of Android shows up on the display.
  3. Follow the previous step with this one: go to your notebook, open the Odin as Admin there and then grab a hold of the tablet’s USB cord to establish a connection between the gadget and the laptop or comp.
  4. Wait for “Added!!” and for a yellow ID:COM box to make an entrance, because they will tell you that the devices are plugged to each other the correct way. If, however, you have trouble establishing a connection, you need to turn to a different USB port; or you can just flash the USB drivers again and wait.
  5. You will then need to wait a bit, because the tablet will very soon restart; when “Pass” shows up on the screen, you will need to unplug the gadget from the laptop and then go to About Phone after tapping Settings; the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 WiFi GT-P5200 will then have the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXUAMK9 in its list.

The NANDroid backup file you read about in the beginning of our guide will be of great help if you want to retrieve the previous ROM of your tablet. With it, the upgrade process will be revoked and the gadget will have that ROM restored.
