Flash KitKat 4.4.2 DDU1ANF3 on Galaxy S5 SM-G900I
If you think that an update will improve your Galaxy S5 SM-G900I a lot, then that’s what you should do. You won’t be alone: help is offered via this guide.
The Galaxy S5 SM-G900I will feature an official firmware in a little while. The tool in question is this one: Android 4.4.2 DDU1ANF3. Launched earlier this month, the new firmware is available for India.
Because its KIES logo isn’t activated, you won’t have the chance to install the new tool through the KIES software. But never worry: if your phone comes with stock ROM, you can go instead for an OTA update method. If the handset’s not sporting stock ROM, this tutorial will work just as fine.
The benefits of this update
If you’re going to upgrade the smartphone, use the Samsung SM-G900I and not a different device. If you update another model with this particular firmware, you’ll have trouble to go through. Also, you need to have a phone with an Android 4.4.2 KitKat version running as its OS.
A smartphone with the new DDU1ANF3 official firmware inside it will sport new apps, for one. Then it will have these additions: a faster processor and new features. A lot of different customization tweaks are also available for your handset. The phone is also going to have better battery life.
If your phone has gone through a rooting recently, you’ll have some cons to deal with. They are related to the system partition, which will be erased. Another con has to do with the root access. If you go through with this update, your phone will end up with a revoked root access. In other news: the handset won’t lose the internal or external SD card. You will also get to keep the device’s important files, documents, songs and other such content.
Prerequisites
Now you should give your attention to these pre-requisites:
- install USB drivers for the handset on your computer;
- preserve, with backups, the data on your smartphone;
- the Galaxy S5 SM-G900I you own has to operate on a fully charged battery;
- open the security programs on the laptop and turn all of them off;
- turn off, next, the phone’s security programs;
- Windows needs to be running on your laptop;
- create a full NANDroid backup (here’s the guide to create it with);
- your handset must have an enabled USB Debugging.
Step by step instructions
Once you’ve performed these important requirements, you have to get in touch with our steps.
- The one which start the upgrade goes like this: go to this page and download Odin v3.09 on your laptop. After that open this site and download, on the same product, the (file name: G900IDDU1ANF3_G900IODD1ANF5_INU.zip) for India.
- If your laptop contains both of these packages, you should go ahead and do the following: unzip them. This part requires the help of either WinZip or 7Zip.
- You’re now asked to look for Odin v3.09.exe. This file must then be launched on your laptop. Next up: boot your handset in Download Mode.
- The booting should be done like this: press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down, wait until you notice a boot message and then be sure to press Volume Up. Here’s what should happen next: operate a plugging between your phone and laptop.
- If you’re done with this, you need to wait for Odin to signal the creation of a connection. The moment you notice a blue sign, the connection will have happened. That’s when you will be required to add the firmware file here: the AP / PDA. After that, check some boxes.
- These boxes are F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot. There’s also a third box which requires your attention. Only this time, be sure to have it unchecked.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]You should begin the installation of the new firmware when done. This is the option which, once tapped, will begin the process: “Start“. This whole flashing will need about 12 minutes. If you have to wait for over 10 minutes, then you should just repeat the guide.
- If the wait is done after those 10 minutes, you’ll be welcomed by a “Pass” message. The phone will then reboot on its own.
- Once it restarts, you will have to unplug it from the laptop and tap Settings. Also, be sure to tap this: About Phone. You are free to give your upgraded device a try next.
If it doesn’t impress you, the NANDroid backup file will restore the previous ROM. The update will have to be revoked, though.
