Update HTC Wildfire S with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean AOKP JB M1 ROM

HTC Wildfire S and the immediate presence of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on it is the subject of this tutorial. The point of our guide is to show you how you can update the phone with AOKP JB M1 ROM. To make the whole thing easier to experience, we arranged some steps to be followed.

Requirements

For starters, you should root and flash a custom recovery image on the device, create a backup of the data you think important on your handset, charge the battery of the Wildfire S, download and Google Apps archive from this location on your laptop, turn on USB debugging on the phone and install USB Drivers for it on your comp.

Should your handset pose problems such as boot, initiate a full wipe cache partition at the same time with a phone’s wipe Dalvik cache. HTC-Wildfire-S

Important instructions

  1. The beginning of our guide resides in step one: plug the Wildfire S to your laptop. Now copy the two files from where they are and paste them to the smartphone’s memory card.
  2. Unplug the handset from the computer.
  3. Switch the Wildfire S off, enter it into Bootloader Mode and generate a full NANDroid backup of the ROM on it; to enter the device into the mode we mentioned, do the following: hold Volume Down while turning the phone on. To operate a NANDroid backup you should opt for Backup&Restore and afterwards be sure to choose Backup.
  4. For the fourth step you will need, once the backup is over, to return to the phone’s main recovery menu, then initiate a full data wipe like this: choose Factory Reset/Wipe Data and opt for Yes. After the task is over, you need to return to the Recovery Mode.
  5. Step five will tell you to opt for Wipe Cache Partition; the operation will only require a couple of seconds to be done, after which you have to choose Wipe Dalvik Cache from “Advance“.
  6. Now let’s see what the sixth step needs: opt for Install zip from SD card.
  7. In step seven, your job will be to select Choose zip from SD card. Next move: the AOKP JB M1 ROM zip file needs to be chosen via Power, then a confirmation should be performed like this: opt for the installation of the .zip file once you spot a second screen.
  8. [sc name=”banner-jos”]After the ROM is flashed on your Wildfire S, step eight will ask you to go back to the previous steps so that the GApps package is flashed on the smartphone (instead of the AOKP JB M1 ROM archive, make sure to choose the Gapps zip file). Now return to the main recovery menu of the handset.
  9. Once there, step number nine will need you to opt for the phone’s restarting. When you have done that, the device will boot up into the Android 4.1.2 operating system.

Just so you know, you can at any time experience the old ROM of your handset. Here’s how: boot the Wildfire S into recovery, choose Backup&Restore and end it up by selecting the said ROM from a list that is going to pop on the display of the phone.
