Upgrade Galaxy S2 I9100 to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 VJMS3 Official Firmware

Most recently, a developer came up with VJMS3 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean official firmware for Samsung’s Galaxy S2 I9100.

This firmware can be used if you want to upgrade your phone.

Requirements

Want to start the update right now? You need to wait a bit until you read through the following pre-requisites:

  • use a laptop or personal comp which has Windows on it (CrossOver Utility needs to be installed on the device in case it runs another operating system);
  • make a backup or more via these instructions (an external SD card should be used to back up the phone’s internal memory content);
  • your I9100 should be bootloader and carrier unlocked;
  • you have to charge the battery;
  • install USB drivers on your notebook;
  • enable USB Debugging.Galaxy-S2-I9100

How to flash VJMS3 on Galaxy S2

  1. The tutorial can now be commenced with these actions: download and after that Odin tool v3.07 on the PC, via this link.
  2. The packages are both made of files; extract them and then power your Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 off. Enter the same in Download Mode via these instructions:
    Home, Volume Down and Power have to be pressed and held at the same time;
    – don’t do that anymore when Android’s well-known logo is on the display;
    – press, instead, Volume Up.
  3. Run the Odin tool v3.07.exe as Admin by using the following way:
    – right-click on odin.exe;
    – go to Contextual menu;
    – tap Run as administrator.
  4. Take the smartphone, plug it to the notebook and then one of the following is going to happen: one ID:COM box turns all yellow or a message with “Added!!” inside it appears.
  5. When nothing of the kind appears to be happening, then the devices are not connected to each other as they should be; so you should flash those useful USB Drivers one more time; or you can have a look at a different USB port to use. Then look at the instructions below:
    – choose a file that has CODE written in the name after you tap PDA;
    – tap Phone and after you do that, choose a file that comes with MODEM in the name;
    – click on CSC and afterwards opt for a CSC-named file;
    – tap PIT and be sure to choose a file with .pit as the extension.
  6. From the group of boxes which shall enter your display, you need to select the following three: Re-partition, F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot.
  7. The first box must be opted for only if the following happened: you chose the file with that .pit extension. The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean build VJMS3 can now be installed on the phone; so tap START and the procedure will commence and the smartphone is going to reboot at the end of that process.
  8. [sc name=”banner-jos”]Also, look for “PASS” and a green background surrounding this particular message. Unplug your Galaxy S2 I9100 from your comp and then go to your handset, launch “Settings” and go to “About Phone” where the update tool is.

NOTE: You don’t have to panic if the smartphone remains all stuck in the logo of its manufacturer; or at boot animation. When you see that happen to your Galaxy S2 I9100, the first thing to proceed to: go to Recovery Mode. Then do as indicated underneath:

  1. Select Factory reset/Wipe data;
  2. Opt for Wipe cache partition;
  3. Restart your device using the phone’s restarting option.

Problem has just been solved!
