Upgrade Galaxy Note N7000 to Android 4.0 ICS via Touchwiz Premium Suite OTA
Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 is in for a surprise. Which has to do with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This operating system can land on your smartphone only by reading our tutorial today.
An update is the surest way your gadget can revel in various great features. Here are only a few of them that you can expect: data usage details, panoramic capture, TouchWiz UI, the possibility to use various widgets and so on. The upgrade comes as an over the air option. The software that is included in the update is called XXLPY 4.0.3.
Requirements
The method we will use for this guide is called over the air, or OTA in short, just like we mentioned before. Without further ado, here is what you need to do to get this upgrade on your Galaxy Note GT-N7000 using the Touchwiz Premium Suite OTA. But before that, make sure you create a backup and that your device is connected to the Internet.
Update instructions
- Step one: go to your device’s Menu, choose Settings and then tap on About Phone.
- Step two: opt for Update, tap on Check Now and wait to see if the software update can be flashed on the handset; should it be available, it will download itself on it.
- Step three: after the installation is done, the Note N7000 is going to restart by itself and then feature the update.
But what should you do if your phone fails to get the update? We have a tutorial on how to update it manually. For that we will use a leaked firmware, the XXLPY 4.0.3 we mentioned in the beginning of this post. Even though it’s leaked, it works very well with the Galaxy Note N7000, no matter where you, its owner, are from. If you’ve already rooted your gadget, keep in mind that this update shall unroot it; so you will have to repeat the rooting procedure once more after you finish our tutorial. If, however, your device is not rooted, then that’s alright; the warranty won’t disappear.
The requirements before you move on to our guide are as follows: make a backup using this tutorial, turn on USB debugging, turn off all the security tools that are pre-installed on your device and your laptop, then charge the phone’s battery.
Install the XXLPY leaked firmware
Here are the steps which will install the XXLPY on the Note N7000.
- Download and Odin tool to your laptop. When done with that, unzip the firmware archive to the same place.
- Launch Odin on the comp and then switch the smartphone off.
- Boot it into Download Mode by using the following method: press and hold OK, Volume Down and Power; now press Volume Up when a message of warning will appear. The Download Mode has just been entered. Now you have to plug the phone to the laptop.
- Click on PDA.
- Opt for the file with the .tar.md5 termination. Now click on Start and the file from step 5 will get flashed on the device.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]The Note N7000 is going to restart after the update has landed on it. You should now wait for the home screen to pop in.
- This is your cue to unplug the handset from the laptop and to afterwards switch the former off. Enter it into Recovery Mode like this: press + hold OK, Volume Down and Power at the same time. Press Volume Down when you spot a warning message; your device is now in the Recovery Mode and your next task is this: opt for Factory Reset/Wipe Data, then Wipe Cache Partition.
- Opt for the system restarting via Volume key. The GT-N7000 will soon reboot and sport the Android 4.0 ICS.
Should you deal with issues, simply restart the Galaxy Note N7000 and repeat our guide after you’ve put its battery back in.
