Upgrade Galaxy Note 10.1 SM-P605M to Android 4.3 UBUBMJ5 Official Firmware

You’ll only be able to get the newest Android 4.3 on your Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE SM-P605M (2014 version) if you consider an update. To apply this procedure, you need to follow some steps. They are all featured in the guide below.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 P605M should have this firmware installed on it so that the update can happen: UBUBMJ5. This new firmware has to be flashed on this particular tablet. If you use this tool on another device, you will brick it. The new ROM was launched in October this year for Chile and Colombia.

You won’t be able to update your handset via KIES because the logo isn’t turned on. However, there’s always our tutorial or OTA (with the Software Update button under Settings menu) to opt for instead of that method. For the OTA method, your tablet must be running a stock ROM.

The most important new goodies your handset will get are these: loads of tweaks to personalize the gadget, a much better battery life, new apps, enhanced performance and all-new features. Also, you’ll notice a lack of serious bugs.

If the Galaxy Note 10.1 SM-P605M is all rooted, the device will surely end up with its system partition erased and the root access revoked. If the data of the utmost importance running on your device worries you, you should know this: it won’t be deleted if you upgrade your tablet. The internal and external SD cards won’t be damaged.

Requirements

Prerequisites are coming up next:

  • make backups (a regular and also a full NANDroid backup, using this guide);
  • make sure you turn off your tablet’s and laptop’s security programs;
  • charge the battery of the handset should its charge levels be low;
  • then be sure to install USB drivers compatible with the tablet on your laptop;
  • enable, on the Galaxy Note 10.1, USB Debugging;
  • the laptop you’re using must come with Windows already installed on it;
  • download Odin and the Android 4.3 UBUBMJ5 on your laptop (the Chile version with different carriers , whereas the Colombia variant can be downloaded if you ).Galaxy-Note-10.1-SM-P605

Instructions

  1. Once all of the pre-requisites from earlier are done, time for the first set of guidelines: unzip the Odin and the Jelly Bean 4.3 UBUBMJ5 stock firmware on the laptop (either using WinRar or WinZip) and make sure you enter the tablet in Download Mode after that by simultaneously press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power, after which it’s recommended to press Volume Up once the Android logo and a warning display come up.
  2. The next task you need to complete tells you to launch the Odin on the notebook as Admin and then use the tablet’s USB cable to make sure the handset is connected to the laptop.
  3. When there’s an “Added!!” and an ID:COM box in yellow on the screen, then a connection will have happened. If not, we suggest you opt for a different USB port or flash the USB drivers on your laptop a second time.
  4. Go on by tapping PDA, opting for a file with CODE in the name, clicking on Phone, choosing a file that has MODEM in the name, tapping CSC after that, selecting a file with CSC in the name, tapping PIT and lastly opting for a file which will have a .pit extension in it.
  5. Activate these boxes when you’re done: Auto Reboot, Re-partition and F. Reset Time. Once they’re all checked, you can move on to the next step, which requires you to tap “Start“.
  6. Then watch as the installation of the new official firmware begins soon after. While you’re waiting for the process to finish, you will see that the handset will restart on its own once the flashing ends.
  7. After this happens, the screen of your device is going to have “Pass” shown on it so that you can end this tutorial by doing the following: unplug the Galaxy Note 10.1 SM-P605M from your notebook.

Now that the new firmware is featuring on your device, you can take it out for a quick spin. But how to find it? Keep your device open, go to Settings and then tap About Tablet to locate the tool.

If, after half an hour of experimentation you end up displeased with the UBUBMJ5, use the NANDroid backup file to get the old ROM restored on the handset after the upgrade is revoked.

      Hello,

      I’m not very sure this is a good idea. I think you will have some compatibility problems if you will try to flash a firmware dedicated to other device.

      However, you can try to make a Nandroid backup before this process. If something goes wrong, you can return to the previous firmware with just few clicks.
