Update Galaxy S2 I9100 with Jelly Bean 4.3 Carbon AOSP Custom ROM
Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 International variant is not an ordinary smartphone. And for that, it gets a spot in the limelight today.
Read our tutorial and learn how to bring Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on your phone with Carbon AOSP custom ROM. Be careful, though, because the tutorial can only be applied on your smartphone.
Requirements
The first thing to concentrate on this very instant is shown below:
- root the Galaxy S2 I9100;
- then install a custom recovery image on your handset;
- make a regular backup and then do a full NANDroid one;
- charge the battery of your smartphone;
- download Gapps package from this link and on your notebook;
- turn on USB Debugging on the phone.
How to flash Android 4.3 custom firmware on your device
- As you are done finding out what requirements to learn about, you should start the actual guide by plugging the phone to the notebook and then take the two files from your laptop’s desktop and move them all the way to the SD card root of the smartphone and, when this copy + paste action is over, you can unplug the phone from your PC and then power the handset off.
- Be sure to do as follows next: enter the Galaxy S2 I9100 in Recovery Mode and follow this task up with another one that requires you to create a NANDroid backup if you haven’t by now; here is how this should be done: if you have TWRP on the phone, then simply tap “Backup”, choose the necessary files that require a backup and then have this process confirmed. If, on the other hand, the device runs the CWM, you need to first select “Backup&Restore” and confirm.
- Next up you will have to create a Factory Reset by applying some steps. The latter depend on the custom recovery image. If it’s the TWRP, you should go ahead and tap “Wipe“, click on “Factory Reset” and have some patience.
- Should the CWM work on your Galaxy S2 GT-I9100, you need to apply the Factory Reset by opting for “Factory Reset/Wipe Data” and have it confirmed next before you start installing the update tool.
- Which is another process that is dealt with differently for TWRP and for CWM. So, if the first tool runs on the phone, you need to press on the option saying “Install“, load the update firmware and then confirm its flashing. For the CWM-running phone: opt for Install zip from SD card and for Choose zip from SD card, then flash the Carbon AOSP Jelly Bean 4.3 custom ROM.

- Then go back to the Recovery screen of your handset from where you have to restart the handset. Once the boot is over, you need to go to your personal account, enter your details there and then enjoy the upgrade.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: But how about when your handset refuses to flash the tool from the beginning? Then we recommend you to do this: redo the guide.
Should this new firmware not rise to expectations, you can get a hold of the previous one. To do that: access the full NANDroid backup you had to create for the requirements.
