How to Update Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5100 to Android 4.2.2 UBCNC1

What better way to experience Android 4.2.2 on your Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5100 than an update?

The way this procedure works is this: we take UBCNC1 and we show you how to install it on your tablet on your very own. To successfully do that, we offer some steps that you’ll need to follow one after the other. But keep the following in mind: our tutorial deals only with the Samsung GT-N5100.

The newly launched UBCNC1 official firmware is available for Argentina (Movistar). If you want to get it on your tablet, you should know that it will damage some parts of it if it’s got root access in advance. The first to be affected: the system partition. Up next: root access will no longer be available on your tablet. The upgrade may take away those from the gadget, but it will keep its internal and external SD cards. The data you’ve stored on your tablet so far won’t be lost once the gadget’s been flashed with the new firmware.

KIES cannot be used as an update method, simply because the new firmware isn’t equipped with an activated KIES logo. This allows for the use of another method (apart from ours): OTA. This over-the-air solution is best used on a tablet which contains stock ROM. If the latter isn’t present on your Galaxy Note 8.0 N5100, our guide can be used instead of the OTA option.

In exchange for having the Android 4.3, your device will get a new Gallery app and a new set of sounds for wireless charging. If you think that’s not enough, wait: the tablet is also going to receive better Bluetooth audio streaming and a new set of download notifications. You will be happy to know that the following are also available: a USB debug white-list and the option of smoothly long-pressing the WiFi Bluetooth icons in Quick Settings in order to be able to toggle the on/off state. Many customization tweaks and low battery bug fixes are also of major interest. Galaxy-Note-8.0-N5100

Prerequisites

When you know all there is to know about the update in terms of features, allow us to point out these pre-requisites:

  • disable the programs protecting the Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5100 against security issues;
  • disable the same on the notebook;
  • the option known as USB Debugging needs to be enabled on the tablet;
  • only Windows should be your laptop’s operating system;
  • protect your tablet’s data against loss by making a backup;
  • include a full NANDroid backup, as well, made with this tutorial;
  • your tablet has USB drivers compatible with it, so go here and download them on your computer;
  • charge your gadget’s battery unit.

Step by step instructions

Which now brings us to the following upgrade steps and how to perform them!

  1. We recommend beginning the guide with this set of instructions: after the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 UBCNC1 official firmware on your notebook, do the same for Odin v3.09.
  2. Then make sure you use WinRar to unzip the packages on your laptop. Open, when you see it, a file that’s called Odin v3.09.exe.
  3. The next thing we ask you to do is this: enter the tablet in Download Mode. Start like this: simultaneously press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down until you spot a boot message; once that message appears on the display, press Volume Up.
  4. Your Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5100 has to be connected to the laptop with its own USB cord. Till the connection is established, wait. You won’t have to do that for long: the Odin will show up with a blue sign when the end of the plugging is in sight.
  5. Add, for the next stage, the firmware file to AP / PDA. The operation we need you to perform next looks like this: activate the box titled F. Reset Time.
  6. Then be sure to also check Auto Reboot and uncheck Re-partition. Afterwards, we have to tell you to tap “Start“. That way, the new firmware can be flashed on the tablet. The installation shall need you to be patient for 13 minutes. Then the tablet will have “Pass” on its touchscreen in a green background.
  7. [sc name=”banner-jos”]When the gadget restarts, the update will have been over. You have to disconnect the devices from one another after that. Tap Settings next, then About Tablet.

If you find flaws with the UBCNC1, best restore, with the NANDroid backup file, the old ROM.
