Update Galaxy Nexus I9250 with PACman Build 22.1.1 Custom ROM
The time has come to add Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus I9250 to the smartphones which will have a brand new operating system. In this case, we will use PACman Build 22.1.1 to update your favorite device to Jelly Bean 4.2.2.
If you want to know, here are a few of the many features of this firmware: CM10.1, Init.d Support and many others to discover later on.
Requirements
From the point of view of requirements, you need to know these: your smartphone should have its data backed up with a guide written by us (you need to use an external SD card if you plan on backing up the data that’s on the handset’s internal memory), use a notebook with Windows (or use CrossOver Utility if you prefer to work with Mac or Linux), flash USB drivers for the Nexus I9250 on your computer, charge the battery of the phone, use the model that is carrier + bootloader unlocked and turn on USB debugging.
Instructions
- The tasks to start our guide are these: download Gapps archive (the file is labelled gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip) and on your laptop.
- Here come other tasks for you to perform: plug the handset to your notebook, then transfer them to the SD card of the smartphone and, when the moving process is over, unplug the Nexus I9250 from the PC.
- Once the handset is powered off, you have to enter it in Recovery Mode by pressing + holding Power, Volume Up and Volume Down . The display will soon flash.
- Now you will be told to opt for Factory Reset/Wipe Data; after that you should confirm this by choosing “Yes“. Have patience for this to end, then return to the Recovery Menu and choose Wipe Cache Partition; have some more patience and then opt for Wipe Dalvik Cache.
- Choose that the installation process to be performed from the phone’s memory card. Opt for something else afterwards: Choose zip from SD card.
- The custom ROM will then have to be flashed on the smartphone by finding it and pressing Power; it’s now recommended to confirm this and then have patience for the file to be installed on the smartphone.
- To flash the Google Apps file, you will be advised to do this: repeat everything from this part onward: “Choose Install zip from SD card (…)”. Confirm this task, too, and then watch as the two zip files are both safely flashed on the handset.
- After you check that they are where they belong, you need to return to the Recovery Menu first; second: find the option dedicated to the system restarting and make a point out of choosing it. The Nexus I9250 is going to reboot. After waiting around 15 minutes tops, you will reach the end of our tutorial at last.

But here is the solution to several problems you may encounter during the procedure. “Status 7 error” may be one of them, so do this to erase it: flash a compatible kernel on your smartphone, then flash the PACman Build 22.1.1 on it.
You could also run into the following issue: the smartphone could end up blocked into an infinite boot loop; here’s what to do: operate Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache, then reboot the handset.
If you really want to have the old ROM on your smartphone, you should:
- boot into Recovery;
- opt for Backup&Restore;
- choose the ROM you’re after from a list that will pop up;
- restore the tool.
