Update Galaxy Mega 6.3 GT-I9200 to UBUAME5 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Official Firmware
We prepared this tutorial as a way to teach owners of Galaxy Mega 6.3 GT-I9200 how to update it to Android 4.2.2. The tool we are using is official and it goes by the name of UBUAME5. The update will make sure your phone is no longer suffering from unwanted bugs.
Requirements
Here is what needs to be done first: turn on USB debugging on the phone, make backups using our instructions, charge the battery, backup the data on the internal memory to an external SD card, use a comp that sports Windows (employ CrossOver Utility if your laptop has Mac or Linux instead), use the phone that is bootloader and carrier unlocked and flash USB drivers for the handset on your notebook.
Instructions
- Number one move from your part: download Odin tool 3.07 and (filename:I9200UBUAME5_I9200ZTOAME2_ZTO.zip) on your laptop. Both zip files needs to be extracted on the same laptop and then you should power the Galaxy Mega 6.3 I9200 off.
- Now enter it in Download Mode like thus: press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power at the exact same time; the second you spot Android’s logo, don’t press them anymore, because you’re in the Download Mode.
- Run the Odin tool v3.07.exe resulted from the extraction as Admin by right-clicking on “Run as administrator“, an option which is the context menu.
- If you’ve completed the above, you can now plug your Samsung I9200 to your laptop. Observe if these two things happen: you see “Added!!” on the touchscreen and a COM port number colored in yellow tones. Do you see them? If yes, you can move on to the next task.
- If not, you should do one of the following: flash the USB drivers a second time or use a different USB port.
- The next task we talked about is this: choose certain files with the buttons we will indicate. Here you go: click PDA and then opt for a file with CODE in its name, click Phone and choose a file that has MODEM in its name, click CSC and afterwards select a file that contains CSC in its name, click PIT and choose a file with the .pit extension.
- While you are still in the Odin window, do this: select the options that are called Auto Reboot, Re-partition and F. Reset Time; the option in the middle needs to be checked only in case you chose the file with that .pit extension above.
- After you tap on START, you will see the beginning of the following process: the installation of the UBUAME5 on your Galaxy Mega 6.3 GT-I9200. This will end in a couple of minutes, so it’s best to wait now. The handset is going to reboot when the flashing has finally ended. At that point you will notice this message: PASS. The latter will be accompanied by a green background.

Disconnect the I9200 from the PC and go to the device’s “About phone”. Why? Because that’s the place where the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean build UBUAME5 is settled.
NOTE: Everything should go well during the guide. But if it doesn’t and you see that the phone is stuck in either the manufacturer’s logo or instead in boot animation, you should proceed as follows:
- enter the Recovery Mode;
- operate Factory reset/Wipe data;
- operate Wipe cache partition;
- opt for Reboot system now.
You will get rid of the issue in a matter of minutes.
