Samsung Galaxy Mega smartphones are now official

Rumors about Samsung landing a new line of smartphones called Galaxy Mega have become reality. The South Korean manufacturer will release two handset that are part of the new series: Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8.

As the two names indicate, these smartphones will have very generous display sizes. Let’s see how the Mega 5.8 one is all about. Apart from its 5.8-inch qHD touchscreen, the device will offer these specs: a 2,600 mAh battery, a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 8 GB of internal storage and a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor. You won’t get to use NFC, and neither will you see 4G LTE. The phone will be available in white and other colors that remain to be announced.Galaxy-Mega-6.3-GT-I9200

On the other hand, the 199 g Mega 6.3 fares much better where specifications are concerned. The model has a 6.3-inch display like the name says, a 720p resolution, 1.5 GB of RAM, a dual-core 1.7 GHz CPU, 8 GB / 16 GB / 64 GB of internal memory, Android 4.2 JB, a 3,200 mAh battery and two cameras (one a 1.9MP and the second an 8MP). Connectivity has to do with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi Direct along with NFC.

Both of these two smartphones come with the following features: Air View, WatchON time scheduler, S Translator, Multi Window and many others. These features (and the rest of them) are also present on the manufacturer’s Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2, so you’re in good hands.

What Samsung wants to prove with the Galaxy Mega 6.3 is the following: if you like to do several things at the same time, this model is the right choice for you. However, this combo of a smartphone and a tablet will require consumers to take out about $710 if they wish to buy the version with 16 GB. If you can afford it, you can start pre-ordering it. The Mega 6.3 is going to become available this July.
