Root Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 running on XXUDMH6 Android 4.2.2 Official Firmware

In honor of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 I9505 we upgraded to Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXUDMH6 firmware not too long ago, we are offering you the chance to root the handset.

By learning how exactly to root your smartphone, you will get to know how it’s like to customize your device any old way you like, you will experience root-only apps as well as custom ROMs, the performance of the handset will flourish and so on.

The rooting of your device will bring back the root access on it (if the phone was already rooted when you updated it to the XXUDMH6 firmware). A rooting disadvantage that should be noted here: the smartphone’s very own warranty is going to get cancelled after the procedure reaches the end. The solution that brings it back: find firmware manufactured by Samsung and install it on your Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.

Requirements

Head over to the following list of pre-requisites for now:

  • if the laptop (or comp) you use runs Mac or another OS than the usual Windows one, you will be required to get CrossOver Utility on it for the guide);
  • install USB drivers for your handset on the notebook;
  • create backups using this method;
  • turn on USB Debugging;
  • download archive for the new Jelly Bean firmware (with this file name: CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip) and Odin tool v3.07 on your laptop (via this link);
  • charge the battery of your smartphone.

In case you are done with these necessary requirements, you can now move on to the part we are here for: the steps to root your phone.Samsung-Galaxy-S4-GT-I9505

Instructions

  1. For now, take the Odin tool v3.07 and the CF-Auto-Root for the new Jelly Bean 4.2.2 official firmware, unzip each of them with tools that can do something like this and then you will see Odin .exe and .tar.md5 files on the desktop of your notebook.
  2. The Galaxy S4 I9505 should now enter Download Mode after you switch it off. To boot the handset into this mode, you have to do the following: press and hold down Volume Down + Home + Power at the same time, wait for a message of warning, then press Volume Up.
  3. The Odin tool v3.07.exe should be located, then launched as Admin, after which make sure you plug the phone to the laptop.
  4. One or both of the following will happen after you do as instructed above: a COM port will appear with a yellow colored and (or) a message will say “Added!!“. Install the USB drivers again or employ a different USB port if the devices don’t get connected.
  5. [sc name=”banner-jos”]Opt for the CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar file once you are done tapping “PDA”, then check F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot, as well. Look for “Start” and tap it. Soon you will see the beginning of a new process: the installation of the rooting firmware.
  6. Wait for about 15 minutes. The Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 will restart. Its touchscreen will display “PASS” next. Proceed to this task: unplug the smartphone from your notebook and flash Root Checker from Google Play after you’re done with the guide. This app is going to let you know the following: if the phone has been rooted or not. If the answer is yes, celebrate by flashing root-only apps and all the other stuff we boasted about in the beginning of our tutorial.
