Root Galaxy Nexus (L700 and I9250) via One Click Method

We recently dug around and found out there is an especially easy method to root Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus (the guide is available for the both models – L700 LTE and I9250 GSM) smartphone.

The tool, called One Click Method, was developed by a member of XDA Developers forum. So it’s all very safe.

However, the thing is that, if you root the handset, you will need to own a laptop or a comp that has Windows. Second: you must make a full backup, because you are going to lose important data if you continue with the procedure.

How to setup drivers

1. To setup drivers, all you need to do is visit the official developer’s website, find and download it on the laptop you use for this tutorial. After you do that, you have to find the software and to select it with the mouse.
2. Step 2: choose Run as Administrator and execute the application.
3. Step 3: have some patience until it launches, then access the Settings > Developer Options then activate the USB Debugging option.
4. For step number 4 you are required to choose between LTE/Verizon Nexus or GSM/HSPA+ Nexus. These options are available when you are inside the software interface. Next up you need to access the Initial Setup and choose the Drivers option.
5. The fifth step needs the user to wait until a message will appear; they contain certain steps which you should follow. This way your phone will feature the much-needed drivers for the procedure. One of the prompts is going to ask you perform a connection between the PC and the phone via a compatible USB cord.

How to root the phone

To actually unlock the BootLoader and root the phone (the method works for the both versions of Galaxy Nexus, the L700 and I9250), another set of steps is needed.

1. [sc name=”banner-jos”]For step 1 you are advised to select the Quick tools, then choose List Devices; this is a method to check if the phone is accessible to the software you downloaded at the beginning of this tutorial. You will need a serial number to perform the accessibility test. Once you are done with this, select Unlock+Root then select Unlock.
2. Step 2: the handset is going to prompt you, after which you need to use the Volume keys and to select Yes. The phone will be restarted. Now you have access Unlock+Root then select the Root option.
3. Step number 3 requires you to wait until the previous action ends. After it does, your Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be rooted.

Possible problems

Should you see that the drivers in the first guide are nowhere to be seen on your Galaxy Nexus, don’t fret. There are 2 methods to that.

First solution

1. The first one: setup Android Debug Bridge then access Quick Tools > List Devices.
2. Afterwards look for the phone’s serial number. Once you spot it, you can to go on with the rest of the tutorial in peace.

The second solution

1. The second method: use your laptop’s and access the Task Manager, select the Gnex application and terminate it. Then you have to access the Gnex program and to start it once again.
2. Next: you must install the appropriate drivers by hand.
3. Do it like this: access the directory automatically generated by the Gnex (the usual location must be C: > Wugs_GnexRootToolkit); you need to click on data and finally, choose the Verizon Drivers, available in the same directory.
