Install ZCAME1 Android 4.0.4 ICS Official Firmware on Galaxy S Duos S7562
Galaxy S Duos GT-S7562 is destined to shine more than it is now once you update it, with this tutorial, to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Requirements
You should, now, respect the following pre-requisites: charge the phone’s battery, make a backup using our instructions (the internal memory needs to be backed up, too, but to an external SD card), if your laptop does not use Windows it’s a good idea to use CrossOver Utility on your Mac or Linux-running notebook, turn on USB debugging, flash USB drivers on your comp and use the bootloader + carrier unlocked S Duos S7562.
Important instructions
- The actions that begin our guide are the following: download the and Odin tool on the notebook we mentioned, then unzip them. Check the files that are extracted and look, among them, for these two in particular: .tar.md5 and Odin v3.07.exe.
- Enter the smartphone in Download Mode after you power it off beforehand; here’s how to boot it into that mode: press and hold Home, Volume Up and Power simultaneously. After the display of the handset flashes, you will know that you’re in the Download Mode. Then continue with the page 2, below.
- Right-click on odin.exe and on “Run as administrator“. After you are done with that, you need to plug your S7562 to the laptop.
- Make sure they are tightly connected to each other, then opt for the files which are going to get launched once you tap on the buttons indicated below:
– click on PDA, wait a bit and afterwards opt for a file with CODE in its official name;
– click on Phone and you will have to select a file with MODEM in its name;
– should you click on CSC, you will also need to choose the file that bears CSC in its given name;
– click on PIT and choose a file whose name ends in .pit. - If you are done performing these, you should move on by choosing these boxes: F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot. There is another box you need to opt for, but only if you ended up selecting the .pit file; its name: Repartition.
- Next actions: tap on Start, then have patience till the handset installs the ZCAME1. After the file is on the S Duos S7562, you have to wait again as the smartphone begins to reboot; “PASS” is the message that will be shown on the phone after that’s done. Now disconnect the device from your notebook.
- Now is the time to go to Settings and then to choose “About phone“. The ZCAME1 firmware, since the update will be there. Try it and see what new features you can use with the updated Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Maybe this won’t be the case, but you may as well take precautions. What we mean: the GT-S7562 could remain stuck in the Samsung logo. Or it could very well show a boot animation uninterruptedly.
To get it out of these two situations, you need to go to Recovery Mode, perform Factory reset/Wipe data, continue with Wipe cache partition and end by choosing the phone’s restarting option.
