Acer CloudMobile A800 to use Alibaba’s Aliyun Operating System
The new smartphone made by Acer, called CloudMobile A800 will feature a new version of a operating system called Alibaba Aliyun.
This sort of OS was created by a a subsidiary of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group. It is Aliyun’s new version. This one saw the light of day in 2011. Alibaba is an operator that is well-known in China. The Alibaba operating system will be sported by Acer’s CloudMobile A800. The latter will be available on the Chinese market soon.
The Acer ClearMobile A800 is going to have a price of 2999 yuan (US$473). And for that you will not have to sign a contract. It will be released for sale this Thursday. The place you will find it is the Alibaba e-commerce site Taobao Mall.
This smartphone has a compelling list of specs. Here they are: a 4.3″ touchscreen, 1280 x 720 pixels, a dual-core 1.5Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM and the Alibaba OS we already mentioned.
The Aliyun operating system has been used by Tianyu and Haier on their phones. Those two are smartphone sellers based in China. Up until now, those devices have seen a sale of 1 million units in the country since they were introduced.
China saw phones released by Acer in 2011 for the very first time. It certainly took the company long enough to do that. Muriel Kuan, one of the manufacturer’s marketing director, said that tomorrow they will announce the other smartphone that they want to launch on the Chinese market in the near future.

The purpose of the Aliyun operating system was, at first, to work with Web-based applications. The latter were stored on remote servers belonging to the company who made them. The OS can offer access to Android apps at any time thanks to that.
Taiwanese manufacturer Acer wants to become known in China. And that is the main reason behind the release of the CloudMobile A800 running on the Aliyun operating system. CK Lu, an analyst with research firm Gartner, said that Acer has a long way to make its name known on the Chinese market of smartphones. And to that end they are going to bring new technologies to their gadgets.
Because China is the biggest name when it comes to smartphones by shipments. But there’s the problem of Google’s operating system. This one has had 81% share so far. And names such as Lenovo, Apple, Samsung, Huawei and others are starting to breathe down their necks by recording important sales.
