Install XXUAMEC Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Official Firmware on Galaxy Mega 5.8 GT-I9152

Galaxy Mega 5.8 GT-I9152 is the main character in this tutorial. Because there is official firmware which makes it easy to get the phone updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, we will teach you how to do it. XXUAMEC is the firmware we shall use.

Requirements

For the guide to go over smoothly, you should first look at these: use the phone that’s bootloader and carrier unlocked, use a laptop that has Windows pre-installed (or, if it has Mac or Linux instead, use CrossOver Utility), turn on USB debugging, flash USB drivers for the handset on your notebook, fully charge the device’s battery and create backups via our instructions (backup the internal memory’s data on an external SD card).

Instructions

1. Here are the 2 packages which need to be present on your laptop: Odin tool and (the file is labelled I9152XXUAMEC_I9152OXEAMEC_CAC.zip).
2. After completing this first task in our tutorial, you should continue by unzipping their files on the same laptop and search for Odin3 v3.07.exe and .tar.md5.
3. When the Galaxy Mega 5.8 I9152 is no longer turned on, you need to enter it in Download Mode; which is done like this: press and simultaneously hold Home, Volume Up and Power. Then do the following to run the Odin .exe as Admin: use the right click method on odin 3.07.exe and tap on the option called Run as administrator from the smartphone’s context menu.
4. The guide should go on like this: plug your Samsung I9152 to the laptop and wait for this operation to go well. You will know if this is the case when you spot a COM port number colored yellow and “Added!!” on the display. Should that not happen, then you can either flash the USB drivers again or simply use an altogether different USB port.
5. Then do the following:
   – click on PDA and opt for a file with CODE in it;
   – click on Phone, then choose a file which has MODEM in its name;
   – then click on CSC and after doing that make sure you select a file with CSC in its given name;
   – click on PIT and opt for .pit file.
6. If you are done with the previous actions, you have to choose these three options:
   – F. Reset Time;
   – Auto Reboot;
   – Re-partition.
   Be careful to opt for the last one only if you chose the .pit file.
7. The task we have now for you tells you to hit START and then see to it that the XXUAMEC commences its installation phase. After the firmware is present on your Galaxy Mega 5.8 I9152, the latter is going to reboot. Then the handset’s screen will have PASS written over it.

NOTE: But in case you notice the device getting stuck in boot animation, you should go to the Recovery Mode and, once there, do as follows: perform Factory Reset/Wipe Data and then Wipe Cache Partition. When done with the previous tasks, you need to opt for the phone’s restarting.
