Update Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 to CM10.1 M2 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Custom Firmware
We’d like to draw your attention here at DroidGator to a tutorial that will show you the do’s and don’ts of how to update your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 to CM10.1 M2 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean custom firmware.
Requirements
First stop: some requirements. They go like this: root the GT-P5100 + install either TWRP of CWM Recovery on it, make a backup, charge the gadget’s battery, use a factory unlocked model, turn on USB Debugging on it and install USB Drivers on your laptop.
The final stop in our guide will complete the update. Here is what it’s made of.
Important instructions
- Step one: and Google Apps (the file is available here) should be the files you must absolutely download to your laptop. Now don’t ignore this action: plug the tablet to the comp.
- Step two instructs you the following: move the two files from your laptop to the memory card of the Tab 2 10.1 P5100, choosing its root. At the end of this transfer you need to switch the tablet off so that you can unplug it from the computer. Then enter the gadget into Recovery Mode by starting the device at the same time with selecting and pressing the keys labelled Power and Volume Down.
- Then perform, for step number three, a full data wipe. When that’s over, find this option: Flash zip from SD card; when it’s in front of your eyes, opt for it with Power. Next: select Choose zip from SD card with the help of the button from before, then opt for the Android 4.2.2 ROM archive via Power.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]Perform a confirmation of the latter action, then do the same as in step 3 (but from the “opt for the Android 4.2.2 ROM zip file via Power” part). This shall install the GApps zip file on the tablet. And then you can go to +++++Go Back.
- When there, the fifth step will tell you to reboot the Tab 2 10.1 P5100 via the system restarting (it’s in the Recovery Menu of the tablet). The device is now updated to the CM10.1 M2 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean custom ROM. The tool will be in your gadget’s “About tablet“.
After you are done with our tutorial, you will probably encounter issues; bugs, infinite booting loops, FC errors and the like are the most frequent ones.
But despair not: you can deal with them, in other words make these problems disappear, by finding other version of ROMs or by choosing the default firmware of the GT-P5100 and installing them again.
