Update Galaxy S4 SHV-E300S to KSUAME7 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Official Firmware
Galaxy S4 SHV-E300S was left out from all the Android updates. Here’s where we come in and include it in that list of smartphones that can receive an update to the most recent Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. For this process we want to use KSUAME7 official firmware.
Requirements
And off we go with the following pre-requisites: flash USB drivers for the smartphone on your laptop, make a backup using our instructions (use an external SD card to backup the data that is inside the internal memory), turn on USB debugging, use a Windows-operating laptop (CrossOver Utility is what you need to download if your laptop runs Mac or Linux instead of Windows), charge the battery and use the Galaxy S4 E300S that is already bootloader and carrier unlocked.
The files that need to be downloaded and then flashed on your notebook for this guide are the following:
- Odin tool 3.07;
- firmware (filename E300SKSUAME7_E300SSKTAME6_SKT.zip).
Instructions
- Look for a tool that unzips zip files and use it to extract both of the archives from before on your laptop. The files that will come out are, among different others, these: Odin3 v3.07.exe and .tar.md5.
- Switch the handset off so that Download Mode is entered; the latter will happen only if you press and hold, simultaneously, Home, Volume Up and Power. To be able to run the Odin v3.07.exe as Admin, you need to do as follows: use the right click method on odin.exe file, then tap on Run as administrator (which is in the phone’s context menu, if you don’t find it).
- Here is what comes next: plug the E300S to the notebook. If you want to verify whether or not this is successful: look for “Added!!” and a COM port number which should be turning yellow. If by no means you get to see that, then either flash the USB drivers again or resort to using a different USB port.
- Next:
– click PDA, that way you will get to opt for a file with CODE in its name;
– click Phone and choose the file which sports MODEM in its name;
– click CSC, then be sure to opt for a file with CSC in its name;
– click PIT and choose a .pit file. - Now it’s time for a different series of actions. Start off by checking Repartition (but only if you opted for the .pit file), F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot.
- Continue by tapping START to allow the KSUAME7 to be installed on your smartphone.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]After the flashing is over, you need to check if the handset reboots; if it does, then wait for PASS to be displayed on its screen, then disconnect the S4 SHV-E300S from your laptop. The update to the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version is finally complete. Take a look at the KUSAME7 tool from the handset’s “About phone”.
NOTE: This might befall you during the tutorial: the smartphone is stuck in the Samsung logo; or it may remain in boot animation. This is not something which cannot be fixed. Find out how to get things back to normal: go to the Recovery Mode, then perform Factory Reset/Wipe Data followed by Wipe Cache Partition, then choose the system restarting option. Your E300S is now ready to be experienced in its freshly updated state.
