How to Update Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 to Android 4.3 ZNUFNA1
If you’ve been using Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 for a while now, you should try updating it to a more recent Android version. The one we’re thinking about is Android 4.3. Below is everything you need to know about this must-have procedure.
ZNUFNA1 became available for installation this month for China. Flashing this firmware on your smartphone will give you access to stuff that is otherwise hard to experience. Like tweaks to personalize your handset, new features, options to improve battery life, no bugs and new features. We only ask that you use the Galaxy S4 for the update; you will brick a different handset if you use our guide on it.
Samsung’s KIES can also work if you want the upgrade. That’s due to the fact that the new firmware has its KIES logo turned on by default. The KIES method must only be used if your smartphone is already running stock ROM. If it does’t, you should use our tutorial.
Here’s what will happen if the ZNUFNA1 is installed on a rooted Samsung I9500: the phone won’t have root access anymore. Apart from this, its system partition will be deleted, but the important data won’t. The internal and external SD cards on your device won’t be affected by the flashing of the new firmware.
Prerequisites
The requirements we recommend next tell you to:
- you an save the data on your Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 only if you make some backups beforehand;
- we suggest creating a full NANDroid backup after that;
- your notebook should have USB drivers for this smartphone downloaded on it;
- a full battery is needed for this guide, so charge the handset;
- your laptop must operate Windows in advance;
- turn on USB Debugging on your phone;
- disable the pre-installed security software currently working on the notebook and your phone.
Step by step instructions
- Our list of instructions will begin now. So download the and Odin v3.09 from this page on the notebook you’re using right now. Then make sure that each of these packages is correctly extracted on the notebook with WinZip or 7zip. As soon as the unzipping is done, open the Odin v3.09 on the laptop.
- Your smartphone must be booted into Download Mode. The following instructions are needed for this step: press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down together, wait for a boot message to show up, then simply press Volume Up.
- The Galaxy S4 I9500 needs to be connected to your laptop with its USB cord. Once you are greeted by a sign in blue in Odin, you will be done with the plugging.
- So what you should be doing next is this: add the firmware file to AP/PDA, then move on by clicking on some important boxes: F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot. Should the box with Re-partition written next to it be checked, you must make sure it’s unchecked.
- “Start” is the option which must be tapped if you want the new firmware to be flashed on your smartphone. When done clicking this option, simply wait until the flashing is all done.
- The process of installation will need roughly 12 minutes to complete itself. When the time’s up, the display of your Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 will show the following message: “Pass“. When the latter pops up, you will need to wait again, this time till the smartphone reboots on its own.
- After all of this happens, you will be able to go to your two devices and do this: take the USB cable out. This will mean that the handset and your laptop are not connected to one another anymore.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]So, when they’re not plugged to each other, you should consider opening the new ZNUFNA1 on your phone. For this to happen, tap Settings, after which we suggest tapping About Phone. From this point onward, you can get a hang of the firmware and keep it if it rises up to expectations.
If it doesn’t, good news: you can get the old ROM back if so you wish. To retrieve it, all you need to do is click on the NANDroid backup file and use it next. But, once you do that, you’ll see the update being quickly revoked.
