The first Samsung Tizen phones got leaked: Melius GT-i8800 and Redwood GT-i8805
Recent leaks have come to the surface via Sam Mobile. They are targeting Samsung. More precisely: their collaboration with Intel for new smartphones based on a Tizen platform. One of them us rumored to be called Redwood GT-i8805, while the second model should be named Melius GT-i8800. According to Lee Young Hee, VP at Samsung, their future phones are going to offer great specifications.
Out of the two new handsets whose names were leaked, the Melius model is said to belong to the mid-range category with its probable 3G connectivity; on the other hand, the Redwood could land in the high-end category of smartphones thanks to its possible 4G LTE connectivity. The latter is rumored to be unveiled this August. Also, many are expecting the Redwood GT-i8805 to sport hardware specifications similar to what the Galaxy S4 has in store for consumers.
Bear in mind that, even if the names were leaked, the manufacturer may very well launch them with other names.

If all of this turns out to be more than just a leak, Tizen could face rising popularity once the new smartphones are launched. In the not so far away future, this platform could lead, with its specs in the hardware department, Samsung’s Galaxy line that comes with Android as the operating system on its devices. In other words: the manufacturer may very well decide to arrive with high-end options, specifications, features and so on on Tizen first and foremost.
After that, they would move all of them to the gadgets in the Galaxy S line-up. Which may mean that Samsung could consider letting go of Android and, as a consequence, to the partnership with giant Google. Before Tizen, the South Korean company used Bada to provide the hardware for their original Galaxy S smartphone.
But that’s only hearsay for now. Let’s first see if the leaked Melius GT-i8800 and the Redwood GT-i8805 will really be launched this year.
