Root and unroot Samsung Sidekick 4G

If your smartphone of choice is something different than the currently trendy iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S3, that doesn’t mean it can’t be rooted. Or unrooted. Or both if you feel like it.

Samsung’s Sidekick 4G may ring a bell only for fans of the company located in South Korea. That’s because it didn’t have such a following as its manufacturer’s other models did back in their day. And yet, here we are discussing the ideal way to have it rooted and unrooted.

Requirements

As a side note: before fully immersing into our little tutorial here, we have some words of advice. Download these two files: Samsung USB Drivers (more exactly the or the version) and . Then the Sidekick 4G (the one featured on T-Mobile) will need to feature a full battery.Samsung-Sidekick-4G

Apart from that, you have to use a laptop with Windows on it (which also needs to have the above drivers installed). Our final advice is to make a backup; this should include every single important data you keep on your handset.

Did we make ourselves clear? OK then, buckle up for our guide below.

How to root it

  1. First things first: unzip the SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse.zip archive to a dedicated directory that needs to be on your comp’s desktop.
  2. [sc name=”banner-jos”]Step 2: access the phone’s Menu, then the Settings, select the Applications and finally, choose the Development option. Once you’re done, activate the USB Debugging via the check-box. Now allow the phone to use applications from an unofficial source. For that you must access the phone’s Menu, then Settings, then Applications and finally by selecting the Unknown sources check-box.
  3. For the third step do the following: plug the phone into the PC via the USB cord.
  4. Step 4: wait while the laptop installs appropriate drivers, then go to to the directory where the extraction was performed earlier.
  5. Step number 5 will ask the following from you: while in that folder, run SuperOneClick.exe and tap on the option labeled Root.

Should you not feel comfortable to how the Samsung Sidekick 4G (T-Mobile) performs and such after its rooting, you can, of course, unroot it. How? Take a look at the following method.

How to unroot it

  1. For this procedure you are required to do what you did above to get the phone rooted.
  2. But this time around, stop after the “run SuperOneClick.exe” bit.
  3. After that it’s time to select the Unroot option and be done with it.
