HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy S2
Even if Samsung’s Galaxy S3 was released not too long ago and people went totally ecstatic about it, today we will compare this older model to HTC’s One X smartphone.
The display
First of all, the touchscreens of the two devices vary in dimensions and attributes. While the Galaxy S2 is a 4.3″ Super AMOLED with an amount of 480 x 800 pixels of resolution, the elements that make the display on HTC’s One X are these: 1280 x 720. Its touchscreen packs a 4.7″ Super IPS LCD2 with 1280 x 720 pixels. The Galaxy S2 is capable of delivering a decent quality when it comes to the way text, colors, sharpness, brightness and so on look like. Still, its qualities pale in comparison to the display on the One X and what it is capable of overall.
But when talking about the dimensions of the phones’ bodies and their comfort in the user’s hand, HTC’s handset doesn’t offer the same strong points as the Galaxy S2. The latter is very thin and light, thus being very easy to hold with either one or both hands. Compared to that, the user of the One X one is not able to touch the corners of the phone at the same time; also, this handset is very big. But the good thing it has in common with the One X is the thickness, which is not exaggerated.
The battery
In the battery department, the Galaxy S2 sports a 1650mAh version. The battery on the One X is an 1800mAh one. Add to that the fact that its processor consumption is bigger than the Galaxy S2 does and you won’t be able to use the device for more than half a day. One of the advantage of Samsung’s older Galaxy model lies in the slower CPU, which helps the battery last for several days. But if you use this handset for a lot of activities, then its battery will only last almost a day. Still, it’s better than what the One X is capable of.
But HTC’s phone wins when it comes to sound; and that is thanks to the Beats audio system it boasts. This makes the sound be delivered with plenty of clarity. Whereas the mono speaker on the Galaxy S is not enough to deliver such great sound quality.
Another difference you’ll notice once using both of these phones is the speed with which the Play Store loads. In the case of the Galaxy S3, this means 5 seconds. Compared to that, the One X takes only 1 second to load apps.
The processor and camera
The processors used on either of these devices look like this: a 1.5GHz nVidia Tegra 3 on the HTC One X and a dual-core 1.2GHz Exynos on the Samsung Galaxy S3. Like we mentioned before, the CPU used by Samsung’s S2 is better when we want superior battery life among other things. So it all boils down to what you want from a smartphone.
At first look, the cameras on these two devices are not that different when it comes to performance. For instance, the cams on their backs are the same, with 8-megapixels. The cameras on the front pack different amount of megapixels: 1.9 for the Galaxy S2 and 1.3 for the One X. The cams on the rear both deliver great quality when snapping landscape scenes, for example. But the One X handset comes with something that its rival does not have: burst shot capabilities.

So, even if the Galaxy S3 performs like no other when you snap content or shoot clips in artificial light and content looks better with colors that are very rich, the cam on the One X performs million times better thanks to its burst shot. But performing a video chat will show you that the camera used by Samsung’s smartphone works in a superior way. However, the amount of time needed to snap a pic and then save it is higher on the Galaxy S3, which requires a whole 2 seconds to do that. Compared to that, the HTC One X moves faster: everything happens instantaneously.
In the end, it all depends on what you seek in a smartphone. Because really, both the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S2 are two remarkable models, albeit different in terms of dimensions, features, specs and so on.
