How to Flash Android 4.2.2 XXUANA1 on Galaxy S4 Zoom SM-C105 LTE
Your Galaxy S4 Zoom SM-C105 LTE will greatly benefit from Android 4.2.2. The firmware to update the device to this OS was launched this past January and it’s called XXUANA1. Below is the guide which will show you how it’s done.
New Zealand is the country this new official firmware was launched for. You can only update the Galaxy S4 Zoom SM-C105 LTE with this tutorial; using the guide on another phone will brick it.
There are loads of advantages when it comes to having an updated device. In our case, the Samsung SM-C105 is going to sport a new Gallery app, low battery bug fixes, along with a USB debug white-list. Apart from these, your smartphone will have a new set of sounds for wireless charging and a new set of download notifications.
You will notice that there won’t be Bluetooth audio streaming bugs. You will also be given the possibility to long-press the WiFi Bluetooth icons in Quick Settings so that you can easily toggle the on/off state. Apart from no security problems when using the Bluetooth audio streaming feature, the whole performance will lack bugs after the device goes through an update.
You will now have to consider these problems if the phone is rooted and you apply the upgrade: root access will be revoked and the system partition will be deleted. The data saved on your handset will not be affected. Also, the internal / external SD cards will not be damaged by the presence of the new firmware.
Prerequisites
Proceed, before the update steps, to this set of requirements:
- after making a normal backup, remember to create a full NANDroid one;
- download, on your laptop, USB drivers that work with your handset;
- turn off the handset’s security solutions and then the ones running on your notebook;
- enable, on the Galaxy S4 Zoom, the option known as USB Debugging;
- in case you notice low battery charge levels, charge the phone;
- use this guide only if your notebook has Windows as its working OS.
Step by step instructions
- When you finish with this bunch of pre-requisites, go to the laptop. There, download the following on it: the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXUANA1 ( the New Zealand version) and Odin, from this page. The packages should be unzipped next with WinRar (or any other unzipping tool your notebook has).
- If you’re done with this, enter your device in Download Mode by pressing and holding the keys dedicated to this task simultaneously (take a look in the device’s manual).
- Then find the Odin. Launch the latter on the laptop as Admin, then make use of the smartphone’s USB cable. You will have to do that so that the handset is connected to the notebook for the next step.
- When a connection has been created, you will see the following appear on the display: a message saying “Added!!” and an ID:COM box in yellow.
- If you don’t see a connection between the devices, here’s our recommendation: make sure you use another USB port. Should this method also fail, try another one; according to it, you need to go and flash, on your notebook, those USB drivers once again.
- When this step is successful, you can tap BL, opt for a file with BL in the name, tap AP, choose a file with AP in the name, tap CP, choose a file with CP in its name, tap CSC, select a file which has CSC in the name, click on PIT and choose a file that should have an extension going by the name of.pit.
- In a matter of minutes, some boxes will come on-screen. Here are the ones you should tap: F. Reset Time, Auto Reboot and Re-partition.
- When they’re all checked as instructed, give way to this action: tap “Start“. Now the firmware is going to begin its installation phase. This will end once the Galaxy S4 Zoom SM-C105 LTE starts to reboot on its own. After doing that, your handset will show this message in green: “Pass“.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]This is your cue to end the guide by unplugging the smartphone from your laptop. The thing to do next: launch Settings on the handset, tap About Phone and open the new firmware.
If you don’t like the XXUANA1, the NANDroid backup file from above shall revoke the update procedure. By doing that, your device will be returned to its previous ROM.
