How to Flash Android 4.1.2 ZMUANA3 on Galaxy Trend 3 SM-G3508I
Maybe it’s time to update your Galaxy Trend 3 SM-G3508I. Especially since you can do that with the newly released ZMUANA3. What you’ll get in change is Android 4.1.2.
The Galaxy Trend 3 SM-G3508I is particularly aimed at China. The ZMUANA3 is also meant for this smartphone. If you try and use it on another model, you will suffer the consequences. Which mean only one thing: the device will be bricked very quickly.
With that out of the way, let’s discover the goodies brought forth by the OS: a fixed frame of 60 fps, group cast, Google Now, sync and connect email updates, all share, pop up play and extended Vsync timing. Other pros: automatic adjustment for the size of widgets, a whole new keyboard, touch anticipation, mini apps, free style widget and triple buffering.
If you’re interested in all of these novelties, you can get them if you check our guide out. But first, some heads-up: if the Samsung G3508I is rooted, it won’t be when the update is finished. Apart from the root access being revoked, the system partition is going to be erased. The internal/external SD cards and your handset’s important content will be spared.
Because there’s no activated KIES logo on this firmware, another update option is via OTA; this should be performed with the device’s Software Update button under Settings menu. The OTA method requires a stock ROM running on your phone.
Prerequisites
We’ve reached a very important part: requirements. So be sure to read the following:
- the battery of your smartphone must be charged;
- a Windows-running laptop is what you should own;
- turn off, on the notebook and the Galaxy Trend 3, the security software;
- your laptop should feature USB drivers that are available for you handset;
- create a regular backup via these instructions;
- create a full NANDroid backup as well;
- enable, on the handset, USB Debugging.
Step by step instructions
- The Jelly Bean 4.1.2 G3508IZMUANA3 for China is on this site. Download it on your laptop. You should afterwards download Odin on the notebook, too; here it is. When both of these packages are on your device, time to extract them. You will need one of the following: WinZip, 7Zip or WinRar.
- Wait for the unzipping to end, then enter the smartphone in Download Mode. We suggest to do it as shown now: simultaneously press and hold the keys dedicated for this task.
- If you are done with this step, launch the Odin on the notebook as an Admin, then move on to the following action.
- This one needs you to make sure your laptop and your handset are connected to each other. The necessary tool is the phone’s USB cord. Use it, then wait. The connection should be established soon.
- That will happen when “Added!!” and a yellow ID:COM box greet you. When neither is shown: flash, a second time, the USB drivers on the notebook or go to another USB port.
- We suggest these tasks when the previous ones are finished: tap BL next, select a file with BL in the name, click on AP, opt for a file with AP in the name, tap CP, opt for a file with CP in its name, tap CSC, choose a file which has CSC in the name, tap PIT and choose a file with an extension called .pit.
- You should move on by doing as instructed here: activate only those boxes called Re-partition, F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot. As soon as all three of them are activated, you can begin the flashing of the new firmware.
- The task that will make this happen: click on “Start”. The installation is going to last for a couple of minutes, so have patience until then.
- [sc name=”banner-jos”]The Galaxy Trend 3 SM-G3508I will, as soon as the flashing ends, reboot on its own. Once that’s over, the screen will have “Pass” on it. This will tell you that you can go ahead and unplug the handset from your notebook.
The Jelly Bean 4.1.2 ZMUANA3 needs to be experimented with. Do that after you locate it first. The firmware is inside your device’s About Phone. Find it by tapping Settings. In case you don’t find it impressive, restore the old ROM with the NANDroid backup file.
