Root the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 using Chainfire CF-Root

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 can now be rooted by way of some steps that will offer you, at the end of the process, an improved handset. These steps will help install a custom ROM called CF-Root by Chainfire. Before getting to that part of our guide, you will have to pay attention to some very important prerequisites.

Requirements

Which sound like this: use a computer (or a laptop, if you prefer), and install the Samsung KIES on it (you can get the necessary USB drivers or if that software doesn’t appeal to you), perform a full data backup and switch off all the tools that keep your laptop safe.

Coming up next are the actual steps which will root your Galaxy Note 2 N7100.Galaxy-Note-2-N7100

Important instructions

  1. The first and foremost step advises you to download the CF-Root ZIP archive for the phone .
  2. For step 2 you need to extract the downloaded archive on your PC, in a dedicated directory. You will see a file with the .tar extension if you will looking in that folder; this means that you have the necessary file and you can move on.
  3. Then it’s time for the third step: and then extract the archive; you must use the same technique: extract all the content in a single folder and then look for the Odin. exe file; this means the operation was successful.
  4. Step number 4 is as follows: turn off the phone. After 10 seconds, enter in the Android Download Mode. For that you must use the well known method: select at the same time the Home, Power and Volume down buttons.
  5. In the fifth step, the screen will turn on; you have to select the Volume down key.
  6. For step 6 select the Download Mode option.
  7. The following step asks the user to be sure that the Samsung KIES, installed on the PC, is stopped. You can look at the Windows processes to be sure.
  8. Then you have to, for step number 8, execute the odin.exe file. Then the installation begins, connect the USB cord to your device.
  9. [sc name=”banner-jos”]Next wait for ODIN to show you a successful message; this one sounds like this: ‘Added!!‘ (if you don’t see it, you must unplug/reconnect the USB cord or you must reinstall the USB drivers if the connection cannot be done in correct conditions.
  10. Step 10: go to the main window and click on the key called PDA when you are sure that the device was recognized by ODIN.
  11. Step 11: go to the CF-ROOT SGN2.tar archive, previously extracted. Enter this file in the ODIN interface and remember to leave the default ODIN settings as they are.
  12. For step number 12 you need to check that the repartitioning is not activated, then click the Start key.
  13. This makes way for step 13, for which you have to wait until the CF-Root kernel is flashed with success. At the end of the process you will see a Pass message. The phone will then reboot.
  14. In step number 14, the handset will display its boot logo after it successfully restarts. It’s now time to unplug the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 from your comp. Once the boot is over, the usual Samsung screen will appear.

Be prepared to receive a Fail message if something goes wrong. Or prepare for ODIN to freeze. If that happens, simply disconnect the phone from Odin and the computer. Take the battery of the handset out and, after 5-10 seconds pass, put it back again. Then start the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 and get in the Download Mode, like in the beginning of today’s tutorial. Afterwards do again what you did from the fourth step onwards.
