ZTE Geek announced: 2GHz Clover Trail+ Atom processor
ZTE has something new to boast about from now on: a smartphone which they decided to baptize Geek.
While the name of this handset may cause some raised brows now and then, its price tag is sure to become a great selling asset when it’s officially released. This mid-range creation was first presented during this year’s Intel Developer Forum that took place in Beijing.
The reason why they chose this event: the model has a 2 GHz dual-core Intel Clover Trail+ Atom CPU (or Intel 32nm Atom Z2580) inside it. The new ZTE Geek is somewhat identical in looks to the manufacturer’s Grand S model (minus the latter’s black eye that surrounds its front-facing cam); the finish is glossy white. In terms of body measurement, this phone seems slim.
Among the specifications of the ZTE Geek we find a 5-inch touchscreen packing 720p resolution, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for operating system, a 2,300 mAh battery, 8 GB of internal storage, 1 GB of RAM and two cameras (a 1-megapixel shooter on the on the front and an 8-megapixel cam on the back with LED flash).
The display of this smartphone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass for extra protection.

The connectivity department includes features such as GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi (there is no info yet on whether or not the smartphone is going to offer 4G LTE support; but there is compatibility for UMTS 900/2100MHz networks). From what Intel has reported so far, the processor of the ZTE Geek is very fast. they’ve also said that it can reduce power consumption by a lot. This CPU is the one which is integrated on Lenovo’s K900, too.
ZTE doesn’t seem to be in a hurry when it comes to when and how much their Geek smartphone will be launched/cost. However, the company is expected to disclose this kind of information somewhere this year.
