Root T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-T879

On the one hand we have those consumers who want the newest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on their gadgets. On the other hand there are those consumers who wish to have their smartphones, tablets and so on rooted. They are the ones who we wrote this “How to” for. In particular, owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-T879.

To be able to open and, therefore, fully enjoy various applications installed on your Galaxy Note T879 (T-Mobile version), the user needs root access. And today we will talk exactly about this problem.

First off, you have to know that this process is not that different to what rooting the Galaxy Note means. So don’t fret too much if you expect something difficult. There is no need to, as everything goes smoothly if you know what you’re doing. And following the instructions we will get to soon.

Requirements

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of before doing the rooting. The gadget on which these steps work on is Samsung’s Galaxy Note SGH-T879 on T-Mobile. Do not think of grabbing another device and do the same. It will have negative consequences if you do that. Also, don’t skip any of the steps or you will fail to achieve what we are learning you here.Samsung-Galaxy-Note-SGH-T879

Like in the case of the previous “How to” tutorials we talked about before this one, there are some requirements you have to take into consideration. You need to have a Windows computer close by. Check if your computer has the appropriate USB drivers (if it doesn’t, get the Samsung Kies; after that disable it, because you won’t need it anymore and it will interfere with our instructions). Then you need to have enabled the USB debugging on the phone.

Another requirement is to disable whatever security software is installed on your PC. Software in the background also needs to go away to allow for a smooth rooting.

After that, download the next files: Odin 1.85 (a file called Odin 1.85.zip) and (a file called tmob-system.img.tar).

The battery should be 70% full; if not, charge it first. A final requirement is to have the important data backup up. Or risk losing it if it’s not backed up.

Important instructions

Now for the actual instructions on today’s How to guide:

  1. Extract the Odin 1.85.zip archive into your PC. Then you should run the Odin3 v1.85 executable file as administrator from menu that appears on the screen.
  2. The second step is the switching off of your .
  3. Third step is to connect the device to your PC. How? Via the USB connector.
  4. Fourth step: select the Volume Down, Volume Up and Power keys at the same time. A warning screen should appear as a result.
  5. The following step is to select the Volume Up key to access the Download Mode of the phone. Once there, return to Odin. There you should see whether the phone was detected or not. If it was found, you will see a Added!! message in the popup screen.
  6. [sc name=”banner-jos”]Select the PDA option once you find yourself in Odin. After that you need to opt for a file called tmob-system.img.tar. The latter will be loaded into the PDA tab available in Odin.
  7. If the Repartition option is ticked, unchecked it before proceeding with the next steps. Then you must select the Start button in Odin.
  8. Waiting until a PASS message appears there is the next step. That will send the device into a rebooting process. After it’s completed, simply disconnect the device.

Should you, at any time, encounter problems, just disconnect the device and continue with the following steps.

And with this last step you are done with the whole rooting process. And can make use of what rooting on a Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-T879 brings with it.
