HP Slate 7 available online for $170

HP want to show that they still got what it takes to be successful on the market of tablets and smartphones. The company are offering their Slate 7 tablet for $170.

This new model they are bringing on the market is an attempt to beat the likes of Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Google’s Nexus 7 thanks to its cheap price.

The gadget has a 7-inch HFFS large angle LCD touchscreen with 1,024 x 600 pixels of resolution, a one cell 13.4WH3 2 Ah lithium-ion battery unit, a 1.6 GHz ARM A9 dual-core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as its operating system, a 3-megapixel camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front, 8 GB eMMC and 1GB of RAM. As for how much the smartphone can take in terms of battery life: the manufacturer says that 5 hours of video playback will be possible.

The Slate 7 coming from HP will offer Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Ports are represented by one microUSB and one microSD port that can welcome up to 32 GB of additional storage space.

The body of the tablet is no longer made of plastic; its material of choice is, this time around, metal. So the durability of this gadget will be one of its stronger points. However, the low resolution might count against the Slate 7, considering that it’s inferior to what the Nexus 7 sports. Even so, the new HP product still offers many things that are attractive, especially the price.
