Update Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 to official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

Not knowing how to bring Android – whatever version, but preferably the newest – on your smartphone is something which annoys a lot of newbies. But we are here to help.

Do you want your Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 to get the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update? Well then, feast your eyes on our tutorial that includes both requirements (to prepare your phone) and steps that are going to bring that much desired upgrade.

Requirements

Make a backup first and foremost, charge the battery of this handset, use a computer with Windows, on the laptop, turn off antivirus software on both the phone and the comp and enable USB Debugging on the phone.galaxy-s3-mini-i8190

Should your Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 be rooted, then you have a bit of problem; because once the installation procedure of the new firmware ends, the non Google Market apps cannot be installed on the phone. However, that has a solution, so you’ll be fine in the end. Oh, and the warranty will stay as it is.

Important instructions

  1. Step one: download you need, unzip its content in a dedicated directory placed on your computer’s desktop, download Odin and install it.
  2. Step number two: launch Odin on your comp, then switch the S3 Mini i8190 off and then restart your device in Download mode. You must use the usual guide: keep pressed for about 5 seconds the keys for Volume Down, Home and Power at the same time.
  3. In step three you have to perform a connection between the PC and the handset when Odin is running; this needs to be performed while the handset is in the Download mode we mentioned. Now wait for the smartphone and the comp to be connected.
  4. A message saying “Added” will appear on Odin and the color of ID:COM area will turn yellow (should it not happen this way, you have to install the appropriate drivers once more and repeat the actions we’ve talked about till now).
  5. Tap on PDA for step 5 and select the necessary update file; now click Start and wait for the installation to end. You will be shown a message reading “Pass” when that happens.
  6. [sc name=”banner-jos”]Step 6: disconnect the two devices from each other. Finally, reboot the phone and you’ll soon see that it was successfully updated with Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS.

Possible issues

A couple of issues may arise during or after this tutorial. For example: you can go through an infinite boot loop.

If this happens, perform a restart into the device’s Recovery Mode using the keys for Home, Volume Up and Power selected for about 5 seconds, at the same time. Then you must opt for Factory reset/Wipe data and Wipe cache partition when you are in the Recovery option area. Last operation: choose Go back and then restart the smartphone.

Should you notice that Odin freezes when you perform the installation procedure, use the following steps.

  1. Number 1: close Odin and disconnect the phone from the computer.
  2. Number 2: switch the handset off, remove its battery and put it back in again afterwards.
  3. Step 3: follow once again the entire procedure from step number 1 (the one which introduces our tutorial on how to update the Galaxy S3 Mini i8190).

The new Android works impressive when the update ends. Thank you for the tutorial. I didn’t seen any problem and Odin didn’t freeze when I’ve upgraded the phone.
