Update Galaxy S3 I9300 to AvatarROM Jelly Bean 4.2.2 custom ROM

Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 is now offered the possibility to have a go at Android 4.2.2 JB version. You should get this update with the help of AvatarROM 2.15b custom ROM made especially for your device.

Requirements

One of the things you need to accommodate for your handset are these pre-requisites: root your Galaxy S3 I9300, afterwards install either TeamWin Recovery Project or ClockworkMod Recovery on the phone, charge the battery, make sure the smartphone is factory reset, use the model that arrives factory unlocked, turn on USB debugging, create a backup via our instructions (including a NANDroid one) and then sync the phone’s Contacts with the Gmail account you have.

How to flash AvatarROM on Galaxy S3

  1. If you are already done with the requirements, you can start the guide by first downloading Gapps archive from here and afterwards the on your notebook. Leave the zip files unzipped, then make sure you get the handset and the comp plugged to one another.
  2. Then go to where you saved the two packages; once you land there, move them to the phone’s SD card root and wait a bit before you do the following: unplug the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 from your notebook.Galaxy-S3-GT-i9300
  3. After the process above is over, you should turn the GT-i9300 off and then boot it into Recovery Mode. Next thing to deal with is this one: opt for Backup&Restore, then make a NANDroid backup if you haven’t done it when we told you to.
  4. When you complete those tasks, you need to opt for this: Factory Reset/Wipe data, afterwards go back to the Recovery screen, choose Install zip from SD card and after that opt for Choose zip from SD card.
  5. Look for the AvatarROM custom ROM zip file and then flash it on your smartphone (before that confirm everything). Once a couple of minutes have passed, you should select Choose zip from SD card.
  6. Don’t forget to install the Google Apps zip file, too, and before you do also confirm the flashing; which needs to happen by following the same route you used to flash the AvatarROM zip file.
  7. The flashing of the two having been performed, you have to find yourself in the Recovery screen again and there opt for the phone’s restarting option.
  8. Have patience till the handset boots into Normal Mode; this is going to take a few minutes of your time. Once the firmware is on your Galaxy S3 I9300, you can go to your Google account and enter your personal info there.

NOTE: Remember that you can always revert to the original ROM should you dislike the new one. Here is our method for doing that: make good use of the backup files pertaining to the NANDroid backup part in our guide.

There may be the following situation for your handset: it can enter a boot loop it cannot get out of. If that ever comes to be, you need to first have your phone powered off; then put its battery inside, have some patience for a few seconds and after that perform the guide for the second time. That should make it all OK again and you will be able to enjoy your Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 in an updated form in peace.
