Root Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 on XXUBMG1 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Firmware

For today we picked Samsung’s Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 (Exynos 5) for our guide. The latter will concentrate on how to root your smartphone.

Requirements

For this procedure to fully work, you should have a handset which is updated with XXUBMG1 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Otherwise you will not get what you are after.

Then you should know that we are using a tool called CF-Auto-Root. Also, follow these pre-requisites: turn on USB Debugging on your handset, use the carrier and factory unlocked version, flash USB drivers for the phone on your notebook, charge the battery and make backups.

Instructions

If the requirements have been followed through, you should begin our guide.

  1. Like this: download the for your handset on your PC (the exact file name should be this one: CF-Auto-Root-ja3g-ja3gxx-gti9500.zip). After you download it, remain on your laptop and unzip the files inside the package and you should stick to the one called thus: CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505 .tar.md5.
  2. But there is a second zip file you need to download on the laptop: Odin tool v3.07 from here. This one needs an extraction, too, so do that for now and you will remain with the following files: Odin v3.07.exe. samsung-galaxy-s4-GT-I9500
  3. After the two files are on the comp’s desktop, you can proceed to the following task that needs you to do this: switch the I9500 off. Download Mode should be reached next; for this to happen, you need to press and hold Volume Down and Home at the same time, afterwards you have to press Power and wait for the handset to be switched on, then run the Odin3 v3.07.exe as Admin.
  4. Now plug the phone to your laptop. If Odin succeeds in finding your Galaxy S4 I9500, it will tell you that by displaying “Added!!” and then an ID:COM box in yellow or maybe blue.
  5. If the connection goes badly, you have to either
    – install the USB Drivers again
    or just
    – use a different USB port.
  6. Odin is the place you need to be in for this task which asks you to do as follows: click on PDA.
  7. Then opt for the CF-Auto-Root .tar.md5 file and choose the following options: F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot. The box called Repartition should be left unchecked and you need to afterwards find START and click on it to begin the flashing of the rooting firmware on the smartphone.
  8. Have patience for at least five minutes, then, after the installation has finally ended, wait for the Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 to restart. After that comes to be, you will see a message that reads PASS; and a background in green.
  9. [sc name=”banner-jos”]That’s a situation which calls for this turn of events: unplug your smartphone from your personal comp and go to the device to start experiencing it in a rooted state thanks to the CF-Auto-Root tool we featured in today’s special post. Root Checker app will make sure the handset is rooted, so download it from Google Play Store after you are done.

NOTE: As soon as the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 Exynos 5 powered by the XXUBMG1 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 official firmware is completely rooted, it will welcome you to new and great possibilities. Such as, for instance, the option of flashing root-only apps and other tools which need to have a rooted gadget to properly function.

The warranty of your phone will not be on the latter once it’s rooted. To have it back, you should unroot your device if you want that.
