How to Install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy S4 GT-I9505

Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 should have a go at a custom recovery image after you root it. Some of the most popular examples of such a tool are ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM Recovery in short) and TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP in short). The difference between these two is mainly this: the features it sports are delivered on a touch UI.

Requirements

To get a taste of this custom recovery image, you need to make some preparations that are known as requirements. Here are the ones to use for your Galaxy S4 I9505: use an unlocked model, charge the battery that comes with it, make a backup so that you don’t risk losing important data after you’re done with this guide, turn on USB debugging on the smartphone, keep a laptop that runs Windows close-by and make sure it has its antivirus software and such disabled (do the same for the handset).

The steps which are going to be necessary for the flashing of the TWRP on your smartphone are shown below.Samsung-Galaxy-S4-GT-I9505

Important instructions

  1. The first one to be displayed needs you to file on your S4 I9505 and, once it’s saved on it, be sure to continue this step by flashing USB Drivers for this phone on the same device. These drivers can be installed once you’ve downloaded Samsung KIES or via our previous link.
  2. For the second step you will have to get Odin tool. After it’s featured on your phone, you need to launch this tool and then have the handset rebooted into Download Mode; this operation should be done by switching the S4 GT-I9505 and afterwards press + hold Power, Volume Down and Home at the same time.
  3. For step number three you will be told to plug the phone to your laptop and then to wait for “Added!!” to appear on its touchscreen; you should also look if an ID:COM icon becomes yellow (or blue); should you encounter problems here: take out the USB cord that connects the devices, close Odin, flash the drivers on the notebook one more time and repeat our guide.
  4. Step four will sound like this: opt for PDA when you’re in Odin and then select the TeamWin Recovery Project file and make sure Repartition is not opted for, then tap Start.
  5. Step number five needs to go in the following manner: once PASS is on the display, disconnect the phone from your PC.

The TWRP is now installed on your Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505. In case you should notice that the handset is blocked in boot loop, you will have to first reboot it into Recovery Mode, then opt for Factory Reset/Wipe Data, continue by opting for Wipe Cache Partition, go back to the phone’s main menu when you’re done and then choose the system restarting.

  • If the Odin tool refuses to work anymore, then just do as follows: close the Odin on your notebook for step one.
  • Unplug the handset from your comp, then force restart the S4 GT-I9505.
  • Reboot it into Download Mode and then install, again, the drivers on your laptop.
  • Launch Odin tool, plug the devices to one another again and continue with the flashing of the custom recovery image.
